| Interesting 'innovative' sightem at Sea Otter. | Finch Platte Mar 28, 2002 6:36 AM | | We stopped by Nokon's booth, and saw these braking/shifting housing systems. Pretty neat. Each housing run is comprised of sections maybe 1/2" long, w/ a round end on one end, w/ a receptacle on the other. These fit into each other (and are loose when you take them apart), and it's like a ball socket kind of thing- so you can bend the 'cables' w/out kinking or affecting braking/shifting performance. You can also remove a few, or add a few as needed, w/ out having to cut the cable. There's an inner Teflon sheath that your cable runs thru. It seems pretty neat. About $40 for a set for brakes or $45 for a set for shifting (or the other way around).
Here are the claims:
b The future of bowden cables has arrived.
1. Glass fibre reinforced Teflon Liner for that no friction feel
2. One system for brakes and gears
3. Cable housing made from Aluminium: 40% less weight, corrosion free & easily recycled
4. Tight cable runs cause no problems: kink resistant, light operation, no increase in friction and always
100% reliable
5. Compression resistant cable housing prevents "ghost shifting"
6. Precise braking, handle your bike with confidence
7. Easy head set adjustment - no cable push
8. All parts replaceable
9. Smart stainless steel-look with sophisticated design

| "Easy head set adjustment - no cable push"..... | McCracken Mar 28, 2002 6:49 AM | | What is cable push? I don't think I have ever had a problem adjusting my headset because of cables, but maybe I have and just don't know it.

| Don't know if they know what hydraulics are, yet. | Finch Platte Mar 28, 2002 7:28 AM | | They quote from a '97 MTB mag on the web site, so this "new" marvel may have been around a while.
