| 1st race of the season | The Truth Apr 21, 2002 4:14 PM | | I had my first race of the season today. It was a mud bath. I couldn't believe they even held the race. It had rained on friday and it rained right up to the start time. The trails were like ice and with water standing in alot of places. I raced the begginers class and there were about 13 guys in my division. The start was kinda tricky because they started all the divisions for begginers together so there were about 30 people fighting through the slop for a good position. Anyway, I got out to a good start. 4th and was moving up past the 3rd and 2nd place guys. We headed into the woods and I was feeling strong so I moved past the leader and started to take off. I got up on the entire field by a few hundred yards and wham my chain sucks up on me. I fix that and continue down a long downhill section and then the chain sticks on the chain ring, I can't get the fugger off for anything. In the mean time I end up getting passed by about 11 people and I'm pissed....lol. I finnaly get the chain fixed and take off, I pass up about 4 or 5 guys in the first mile or so and then I'm by myself its like I'm lost or something, finnaly after god knows how long I catch another guy and we ride hard and dont see another soul untill the finish line. I ended up 6th overall and felt pretty good about it cause it was only 1 lap on a 10 mile course. Overall a pretty good race day.... hopefully all the mechanical probs are out of the way for awhile.
ride on and have fun folks....
