| 180 miles for me, practically next door. | WadeO Apr 22, 2002 6:59 AM | | I WAS HOOTIN'! I do a lot of yelling when in pain. Short race story: I immediately fell to the back of the pack. Soon caught by next group out, then the group after that. THEN they started crashing, flatting, and breaking. I thought about dieing myself, but eventually I started passing folks on climbs and had one hell of a sprint at the finish for ??? place. 16 miles of torture-laden FUN. |

| I was there. | up_hiller Apr 22, 2002 6:56 AM | | Had a blast. Finished one spot out of the prizes. Damn. Took a pretty spectacular spill, too (definitely the most thrilling moment of my race). No damage to bike, no major damage to me, and I learned some good lessons (only my second race). I suppose I'm satisfied. Ya just gotta love riding at Tsali (but it sure was hot out there)! Went to bed at 9:30 last night...
happy trails!

| I was #1737 --30-39 Beginner | WadeO Apr 22, 2002 7:07 AM | | Not even a dab. Walked in a few spots. Narrowly avoided two crashed riders. DANG nearly pinch-flatted. Rode the hell out of "spectator hill". My second race too. First race I crashed early in pile-up and banged a tree hard with my hip later and it was only 7 miles. Finished 10 of 14 there (Sewanee-St. Andrews) I've got a few photos I'll try to get up somewhere. Waiting on results of the race, no idea where I finished. I went back to the campground showered, napped, then ate at the Village. Left at 9 and got home at 11:30 local. All on about 4 hours sleep. |
