| Anyone catch Eco-Challenge last night? | K-Zero Apr 22, 2002 12:14 PM | | According to the coverage, Team Eco-Internet ditched two of their old teammates to bring in two "world champion mountain bikers." Did anyone who watched the show recognized them? I think one of their names was Sarah Valentine (sp?).
K-Zero
p.s. The brunette from team brazil is hot! =) |
| Yep... | slowride Apr 22, 2002 12:21 PM | | Mike Kloser and Sarah Ballantine. However, they only replaced one person with Ballantine, Robyn Benincasa. Kloser was on that team all along (team Eco-Internet). |
| I love it | cleatgrrl Apr 22, 2002 12:26 PM | | Ballentine and Kloser. Before your time, I guess. Before mine too.
What I am curious about is: why was Sara Boardman DQ'd in the first 4 hours of her last race (Borneo).
I love the coverage, even though they make a point of hyping the soap opera elements of the race. Going to miss it tonite, damn. Anyone know who won? Kiwis kick asss! |
| Race results (spoiler alert!) | K-Zero Apr 22, 2002 12:34 PM | | The winners of the NZ race can be found here. |
| Boardman... | slowride Apr 22, 2002 1:45 PM | | Didn't make the checkpoint, I think. Some kind of navigation problem. |
| Kiwis do... | Echo Guy Apr 22, 2002 3:06 PM | | Kick asss!
If you go here http://www.ecochallenge.com/newzealand/index.html you should be able to find the race results but I've been avoiding it. I don't want to spoil the thing.
I'm curious about Boardman too but, from what I've seen, she's a tad psycho and self-righteous.
~Echo! (the rider formerly known as ~RaveN~) |
| Saw it. Pretty cool. | Echo Guy Apr 22, 2002 12:28 PM | | Don't remember the bikers' names though the guy's sounded familiar.
I concur. The Brazilian brunette (you mean the team leader, right) is WAAAAAY hot. There's more going on there than they're letting on. I think Zolino took a purposeful detour through the bush... (nudge nudge wink wink).
I think the firefighter girl who got cut from team Eco-Internet is pretty when she's all cleaned up.
Either way, that looks like some hard a$$ $h!t.
Give me a 10 mile loop with a cooler of Sam at the end of the ride any day! ;) |
| HELL yeah | Burt Apr 22, 2002 12:28 PM | | It rocked...can't wait to catch it tonight...and your right about the brazilian woman.
B. |
| The coverage forgot to mention.... | anon Apr 22, 2002 1:10 PM | | ...Sara and Mike were on the team that took first in the 1998 Eco-Challenge Morocco, Team Vail I think. I didn't remember Mike Kloser's MTBing exploits but I remembered Sara Ballantyne, same era as Deadly Nedly. For her MTB bio check out the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame, lots of interesting stuff there.
BTW, did anyone notice the average age of the winning competitors? Kinda puts all of us young pups in their place doesn't it? |
| Thanks for the link..... | Battman42 Apr 22, 2002 8:35 PM | | I found this Strange guy there who used to take us on these insane rides back in '84 (MT.St. Helena Moonlite ride)http://www.mtnbikehalloffame.com/inductees.cfm?page=99&mID=63
Thanks I was wondering what he had been upto as I had drifted away from MTBing (Had kids, went broke or something...) |
| re: Anyone catch Eco-Challenge last night? | BikinCO Apr 22, 2002 1:21 PM | | Yep Kloser is from here in Vail and Sara is from Breckenridge. Nice people. |

| Awfully Survivoresque, but still good. The Brazilian brunette... | Fast Eddy Apr 22, 2002 1:38 PM | | ...needs a good plucking.
On being Survivoresque: I'm waiting for someone to pull out a big Snicker's bar and split it up with a big knife.
I think it's kinda funny that Burnette wrote himself a part. You know he spends the whole time flying around in the helicopter. I guess it's good to be the king. |
| Awfully Survivoresque, but still good. The Brazilian brunette... | Yeti_Rider Apr 22, 2002 5:29 PM | | Makes sense that it's survivoresque since Mark Burnett created both the Eco-Challenge and Survivor.
Michael |
| Yeah I'm waiting for each team to vote off a member.... | sugarloaf Apr 23, 2002 6:23 AM | | They even had survivor graphics with the first names of the 'stars'.
I think Brazil should vote off the navigator. That guy couldn't find his way out of a sleeping bag. |
| Team Brazil? | Echo Guy Apr 22, 2002 1:42 PM | | The one one the left with the glasses is hot too. My apologies to you female riders but there's something about hot women who compete physically that really inflates my knobbies! ;P
http://www.ecochallenge.com/newzealand/index.html |
| Yeah, I'm talking about the girl on the left | K-Zero Apr 22, 2002 1:47 PM | | Too bad she's wearing glasses in the photo...she's a hottie.
K-zero |
| I think the glasses... | Echo Guy Apr 22, 2002 1:51 PM | | add to the attraction in a sporty-lisa Loebish kinda way.
If she's on a team for Eco-Challenge 2002 Fiji, I say we try to join! ;}
Umm... excuse me, hottie? Do you have need for a beer-drinking mountain biker on your team? |
| Ahhh, the Brazilian brunettes... | Spiff Apr 22, 2002 4:30 PM | | I miss home, uh...
Gui |
| Fabiola Dasilva | bn Apr 23, 2002 6:45 AM | | now she's the sh!t |
| Here she is... | K-Zero Apr 22, 2002 8:10 PM | | Didn't know she was the team captain unitl I saw tonight's episode. Can't wait to see the mountain bike section tomorrow!
K-Zero |
| Subi..... | kendog Apr 23, 2002 8:44 AM | | Ah...she's so freakin' hot. That navigator is an absolute moron. I'd be real nice to her. Offer to carry her pack....share my tent....8^) |
| They've made it to whinney | Roger Apr 23, 2002 11:59 AM | | it's annoying, I had to turn it. Although the bike leg is tonight so I'll probably watch it. |
