Earth movers denuding the hillsides across Folsom, as seen from the Darrington trail. Beep...beep...beep- an ugly sound of civilization that followed us for a few miles as we rode. This is but one small section that's being ripped up for houses along that side of the lake.
It's a heart rending sound, and I don't like hearing it when I ride :0(

It's an Olympus D something or other (I don't have it with me, sorry.) D470, maybe? It's an older model. The lens came w/ the camera.
I almost got hit- that's how close I was. I prefocused on the ground, turned the flash on, and held the camera away from me & moved it along with Steven as he went by, hoping it would work. This time it did, but I have 30 more pics from that ride that
i didn't
work. That's one of the great things about digital. Dump 'em and try again!
Most of my shots are taken using the flash- if it gets too washed out, I can correct it w/ Photoshop- that helps show the faces of my victi- er, subjects. If the face is in darkness, there ain't much you can do about it.

Millions of flutterbys flew along with us- one even kissed my cheek as I rode along- awwwwwww.
Hundreds of lizards, too. They'd be sunning as we rode up- then scamper along the trail just ahead for 10 yards or so- probably doing 15 mph in that brief spate of "oh, sh!t!" |
