| Howard Roark | lidarman May 17, 2002 12:03 PM | | The HR factor is right on. I thought your grade for "Attack of the Clones" matched my feeling after seeing it last night. If I could use a Mountain Bike term to describes George Lucas in the movie world, it would be "Fred." |
| EP2 was awful. I know, because... | Jettstream May 17, 2002 12:44 PM | | ... I've read and heard a few reviews that said so.
One blistering review on Morning Edition this a.m. said that watching the latest Lucas SW films is like watching a grown man happily playing with Legos, and still building the same wheeled and winged car/plane thingies that he did 20 years before. Yeowch!
In other news, I found a nice addition to our stash collection this morning. Sweeeet downhill, about a mile long and 500' down. Brand frickin new trail, too. A debut will be arranged soon. |
| That explains everything! | kristian May 17, 2002 1:08 PM | | I liked the movie and I also still like Legos! |
| right on. | Kitchenware May 17, 2002 1:25 PM | | my kids have TONS of Legos for some reason.

| Awright you two, it said *grown* men. | Jettstream May 17, 2002 1:33 PM | | Ohhhh, you saw that coming, sure you did.
FWIW, I'd have an HO train layout on my living room carpet, if I would just break down at Xmas and buy a set. (For my train-nut nephew, when he grows older, natch.) |
| Sad, isn't it? | Howard Roark May 18, 2002 9:05 AM | | These movies have such potential, but Lucas seems to have lost his edge. The story is original and there are so many characters to work off of, but he can't get it right. What he needs is someone to sit by his side during the entire making of the movie to keep him in line.
My dad still wants to see it though, so I told him I'd go with him this weekend. I'm gonna have to sit through the same stange story all over again. At least I'll get to see more of you-know-who.

| I don't get it!!!! | hardrain187@hotmail.com May 19, 2002 1:17 PM | | I just finished The Fountainhead like a week ago and I don't quite understand your reference to Howard Roark...are you trying to say that Lucas isn't meeting his full potential?? Let me know please; it's my favorite book as of yet! Anthem is also very good...I'll start Atlas Shrugged ASAP. |
| LOL! | lidarman May 19, 2002 1:47 PM | | Yes, Lucas isn't meeting his full potential, I guess you could say.
I'm not going to be the one who explains it.
Read all of Atlas Shrugged, Fountainhead again, and all the posts on this site for clues. |
| It goes like this. | Howard Roark May 19, 2002 4:08 PM | | Anakin displays some of Howard Roark's qualities, but not all; ie, he falls just short of being Howard Roark. So yes, you could say Lucas, or Anakin for that matter, falls just short of his full potential. He shows selfish qualities, yet he still has compassion, which is displayed through his 'love' (infatutaion?) for Amidala. He also knows he is the best, or will at least become the very best, which is very much in line with Howard Roark. On the other hand, he has temporary lapses of judgement, clouded by his immature mind. HR never had such lapses, and never showed signs of such blatant immaturity.
And that's just the tip of the proverbial iceberg. Lidarman knows what's up though, there's tons of symbolic posts on Passion.
