| Seatpost size for Titus Racer X | konagrl May 18, 2002 4:45 PM | | Hi,
I know this belongs in techtalk, but I thought I'd post in both, as I need an answer soon. Does anyone know the seatpost diameter for the Racer X (ti)? I checked the web site, but could not find it. I thought it was 27.2, but Jenson's sent me a 31.6. Prior to shipping it, they said they called and checked with Titus for the size. Anyways, I need to confirm it, because I'm moving and want to send it back ASAP.
Thanks!!!

| 27.2 you'll have to send it back | FredK May 18, 2002 4:55 PM | | The RX Ti, uses a 27.2 mm post. It says it on their website, and my RX Ti also uses a 27.2 post.
Jenson likely only asked about the aluminum RX which uses a 31.6 mm post. |
| Yep.They probably just asked, "What size post for a RacerX?" nm | AZ-X May 18, 2002 5:09 PM | | |
| Talk about "Passion" What I would do for an RX Ti......... | tankhead10 May 19, 2002 4:59 AM | | Hey Fred,
I just thought you could give me some bike porn about your RX ti frame. To me this has to be the ultimate XC frame. Is it everything you thought it would be? I will never go back to aluminum and was wondering if you have had any problems with the rear end as far as cracked chainstays, rear end sway? I realize that the rear end is aluminum. Why did you choose the ti version? Post a pic if not to much trouble. BTW AZ-X if you are reading this why did you not order the ti version? Thanks for your responses :} |
| yep | FredK May 19, 2002 6:40 AM | | The RX is one of the best XC full suspension frames out there. I would never go back to aluminum either; I've had an Al frame start a fatigue crack before.
Anyway, I just got the bike around a month ago. No breakages yet! I can't feel much rear end flex while riding. My RX doesn't have the plates welded over the CNC piece behind the BB, which is reputed to remove most all rear end sway.
I bought the frame used. I chose the Ti version because it had better geometry for me. It had a smidge more top tube clearance than a 17.5". It's a 16.8" frame.

| same here | konagrl May 19, 2002 9:12 AM | | Hi
I got mine for the same reasons. I'm in beween a small and xs. I have a Ti kona hardtail, and I really love this bike, so I'm certainly not adverse to getting another ti bike. I dont think you would be able to feel any flex in the ti RX.
As soon as I get my bike, I figure that I will have some sweet choices for racing...a ti ht, and a fs bike. From what I hear, though, and from test riding the RX, I don't think I will race much on the kona. I can't WAIT to get it. One more week....

| Verbatim from the Titus website... | Chef May 18, 2002 5:46 PM | | Q: What do I need to know to build up my new Racer X?
A: All Racer X frames use a 1 3/8" (34.9mm) top pull, top swing, front derailleur, 1 1/8" headset, with a 73mm wide bottom bracket shell. The aluminum Racer-X uses a 31.6mm seat post while the titanium frame uses a 27.2mm. The Racer-X is designed around an 80mm travel fork. Using our custom group kit program to order a complete Racer-X will ensure proper parts compatibility as well as providing you with only the highest quality, proven lightweight components.
You're welcome, and enjoy.

| Thanks guys! | konagrl May 18, 2002 7:32 PM | | They mustve goofed, because the only reason I thought it was a 27.2 is that they TOLD me it used a 27.2. No biggie, hopefully I can trade it in.
Thanks,
