Sighting the New Jersey Woohoo Bird in Pisgah(11 posts)

Sighting the New Jersey Woohoo Bird in PisgahM-U-M

Braving forecasted rain, temperatures just above 60 and strong headwinds – we took to one of our favorite trails to give our Northern guest (known to most here as mtber) a little taste of Pisgah. It was also a chance for me to try out the new Marin in As Is condition. The bike felt great and I felt great. My only complaint was the tires. Those 1.95 wee things have got to go! Here are a few photos from Saturday.

Hollis - impressing the hikers with his lumberjack skills.

Topher fording one of the Just A Few creek crossings.

Mtber and Mum discussing how they kicked a$$ on the switchbacks.

Caleb and Hollis doing their best not to discredit the conversation.

Mum - Glamour shot.

Boyz and dogz – Topher, mtber, Caleb, Hollis, Elsie & Dakota.

Boyz and Babe – add Mum who really needed to go somewhere else.

Dont let the photos fool ya...Hollis

I couldnt believe how bad the weather was, it sucked. I froze my tail off (really)! No way the temp was anywhere near 60° Saturday. The trails sucked...too many waterbars...too many rocks...too many Steeper Than it Looks switchbacks...lots of slick roots...too many happy people with sh*t eatin' Perma-Grins®...see ya guys next weekend at the oh so Dangerous Tsali? ;o)

Even the cheap Mexican food sucked...I could barely eat the 2nd Chimichanga.
yeah...I have heard...fireboy

Glancing through MTBR and see a familiar face, have you left McMinnville for greener riding pastures?

I saw you on Sunday at Dupont. I was in that herd of bikers that had that Northerner you have a picture of. I was on the polished Hammerhead w/ the guy on the Marin you talked to.

Small world. Awesome weather and riding.

Thats Right! 28hrs of driving, 1600+ miles on that green B'ville. That's just the car. Then a climb to 4,000+ ft from a 2,000ft trail head on some flat incline for 7 miles. Then come to find out someone gives massages (Rub down HUH) and I can't even get the Downhill death grip marks rubbed out of my palms, let alone a massage. Those death grip marks must of been from them there water crossings and carrying the bike(LOL). Did I mention the bent Raceface chain ring, Crank or Bottom bracket. I haven't figured it out yet. I didn't even notice it until I was in the parking lot to Slickrock the next day. The views there suck too. I must say though, the people were nice. All 18 that I met in two days of rid'n. I didn't even get a free T-SHIRT. The Harvest bar was good though. Psali here I come.

You think that was bad, I did an 8 hour adventure race Saturday out of the NOC just southeast of you guys. Paddling a canoe the last two hours of eight sucks.
