Fisher Big Sur 00'(6 posts)

Is this a bike worth upgrading? I recently tried a bunch of FS bikes, long travel, XC etc etc, and I realize I am most happy on my HT, sounds crazy but it's true!

Basically, I am just wondering if my current HT, Fisher Big Sur 00', is worth upgrading (discs, better fork, etc)

thanks

just kidding.

If you're asking is the Big Sur a good frame, absolutely. I had a 00 Mt. Tam., so I think the frames are the same. What kind of fork does it have? Do you need disc (i.e., do you live ride wet, muddy conditions), or are rim brakes okay?

Not sure what kind of components you have. The Tam came with Bontrager Race Light (cranks, seat post, stem, handlebar, wheelset), which did not get good reviews but I personally had no problems with them. Really, the only reason I got the Mt. Tam over the Big Sur was the lighter components and the XTR rear derailluer. However, I currently have an XT rear derailluer and am happy.

If you're looking for upgrade suggestions, how about letting us know what you have.

Ive got a mix of parts on there. King headset, XT hollowtech cranks, Thomson stem, XTR/517 rear wheel. Full XT drivetrain actually.

If i got disc, i actually would only go with the front wheel, the one thing I did love about the FS bikes I tried was the disc wheels. My fork is a Manitou SX, I just want to replace that for something a little better, a good solid XC fork. Any suggestions?
