Laguna Meadow/Noble Canyon RR with Pics(3 posts)

Laguna Meadow/Noble Canyon RR with PicsYeti_Rider

I spent the morning riding through the Laguna Mountains and down Noble Canyon in Eastern San Diego County today and I took a few pics while we were out there. I didn't feel like dragging the video gear around while I was out there since I knew it would be hot (95 at the car at the end of the ride) but I'll record this one sometime soon.

This ride is nice not only becuase it's all singletrack (26 miles of it the way we do it) but also because of the different terrains you travel through on one ride. The ride takes you through the trees on some nice smooth (albeit powdery) trails before taking you through some fantastic mountain meadows. Then you'll hit some extremely rocky technical sections of trail (oh wait, California doesn't have any rocky technical sections right?) with steep drops on either side of you. Finally you'll end up riding through a desert landscape with sharp rocks, cactus and zero shade.

Riding through the trees

Single Track through the trees

Sorni dabbing in the rocks

Bill Porter taking a good line

View from the ST

Sorni riding through the meadow

Everybody hitting the ST

We came upon this herd of wild cows stalking unsuspecting mountain bikers

Colin getting a little air on a rock

Colin was leading out and he took the low line, caught a rock and went off the edge. Bill Porter was following (and rolling video), took the high line, caught a rock and also went over the edge. This is one of those spots where things could have gotten ugle but both guys were able to stop themselves and their bikes and crawl back up to the trail

Sorni Riding past the cactus

Bill Porter riding past the same cactus

Collin tackling a particulary smooth section of trail

Bill Porter hitting the same section

And not finding success

But he finds success on this attempt. Is there even a line on this section? Not really, you just try to keep the bike pointed downhill and keep the weight back far enough to roll over everything

Me on the same section. Collin and I prove that as bumpy as the trail is, a hardtail with a competent rider can succeed!
Alright..... thanks. Just watched the video also.....Battman42

I met up with Dirtdog and his wife at Pt Reyes this week as they headed to Chico to look for a new home.

They mentioned the rides in S.D. area, as I will be there for 2 weeks in late Aug. early Sep.

That area looks like what I would like to ride with My son while I'm there.

Nice photos... It keeps the juices flowing for rides while I do night shift....
