| I'm embarassed to admit this... | Fat-tire Jun 16, 2002 4:50 PM | | but I spent Sunday not in the saddle but on the golf course. The thing that I'm even more embarassed about is that I think I'm more tired today (even riding in a cart) than I was from yesterday's ride (20 miles in 100+ temps).
It's been well over a year since I golfed last, so when I was invited, I was half tempted to use the "I'm rusty" excuse. But I decided it would a good chance to catch up with friends without trying to catch my breath at the same time. I am happy to report though, that I had a terrible time (well, I exaggerating, I actually had a very nice time), and my clubs will go back into semiretirement. I couldn't stand the dirty look my bike game me as I left her in the garage this a.m.
Not ready to trade my ugly biking clothes in for ugly golfing clothes. |
| Its the waiting, not the golfing that gets to me | Mr Magoo Jun 16, 2002 5:14 PM | | I quess I'm not waiting on the MTB 'cause I'm slow.
Nothing is worse than hanging around on a tee, and then the next tee thinking "I should have gone riding". |
| hey there's nothing to be embarrassed about.... | cohenfive Jun 17, 2002 6:31 AM | | i'm both an avid golfer and mountain biker. what's wrong with enjoying multiple sports, even though they seem so diametrically opposed? both golf and biking are partly about enjoying the outdoors, golf is more mental while biking is more phyical, maybe that's why both have appeal to me....i did both over the weekend, normal thing for me... |
| feeds both aspects of my soul | hackwriter Jun 17, 2002 7:03 AM | | I thought I was the only one. Love this thread. What a guilty pleasure. But that sound, that beautiful sound - forged five iron smacking one true to within kick in distance, too much for a scottish boy to ignore. Love golf, love Mountain Biking - and now I'm going immediately back into hiding.

| F L O G | EricTheRed Jun 17, 2002 12:37 PM | | flog = golf backwards! Its good to take a brake from things you enjoy, don't want to get burned out. About 3 weeks ago i said that if i could bike 24hours a day i would ( ie not have to sleep,go to work, pay bills, etc) but after a 27 mile ride on sat. on Sun i was so tired that i didn't even want to bike to the store (3 blocks away). i felt bad but i'm going for a ride after work today so its all good. as for multi-sport i think its very good to do more than one sport, many things that apply to one discipline will apply to another. I like the relaxation of golf and visualizing my swing, much the same way i visualize how to get up/down a technical section. And i really like just no thinking and going i think that works best on a bike for me though, can't do that golfing. i've never played a round of golf, i'm afraid i would loose too many balls so i go to the range and try to hit targets, but i'm trying to get the guy who takes me golfing into biking. Must convert more people. -e |
