| 1st MBW & Bikebreath is still watching the weather channel | mtber Jun 16, 2002 8:37 PM | | I finally made my first Mountian Bike Weekend in Jim Thorpe. I really wanted to meet a few fellow MTBR members and ride. One I keep missing due to bad timing(THE REV) and the other I find out was manipulated by the weather. After a friendly chat( Names withheld ) at site #4or#2 (I forget). Intelligence reports Bike Breath is easly influenced by the weather channel and/or other individuls opinions on what to do or not to do. After reading the post that bike breath posted(A few Days back) while we were on the trails sucking up the tropical rainforrest weather(Humid & Wet) I've come to a conclusion that he wrote that post just so one or "A person" ("THE LAST Post") could give him a reason to justify his manipulated decision not to show. Now bike breath you sounded so excited to be going to MBW with various post on MTBR, prior to being manipulated or was that your breath I smelled. I bet you it was to wet for you to put your bike on the rack, It didn't make it to the rack. Did it? It was raining to hard.WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA.
On a more serious note! I do look forward to sharing some photos and one day hooking up with The Rev & Bike Breath (Weather permitiing). No Hard fellings Bike Breath. I got to observe one more thing that was a first for me Kids/Adults with Real expensive, top of the line Mountian bikes and they really don't now how to ride. I would of much rather seen someone with knowlede of how to ride(Bike Breath) up there on there part of the trial! Thanks, Bike breath! I hope your happy and next year don't talk about going until after you see the weather channel, Psst! I heard it suppose to rain again! PEACE! |
| Ya like steak? Ya like chocolate? | Bikebreath Jun 17, 2002 2:44 AM | | How about I grill up your favorite steak just the way you like it and pour chocolate on it?
I like the rain. I love mtb. I don't mix 'em.
If that analogy doesn't work, tell me something you disagree with or some mistake you have made and I'll turn it into making you out to be and idiot for it.
Bb, [ does like being sarcastic. ] |
| Ya like steak? Ya like chocolate? with Marshmellows. "Hey REV"! | mtber Jun 17, 2002 7:17 AM | | Ok! Next year I'll eat that steak with the marshmellows! Adapt and overcome! You could of still just showed up. And cooked! Anyway, I look forward to meeting you next year and maybe we can get an "MTBR Crew Cruise" going and just RIDE! |
| I'm always up for an MTBR ride | Rev Bubba Jun 17, 2002 8:10 AM | | Sometimes it just hard getting everyone together. Guess we need to do some better planning next year. |
| Rain? What rain. Some of the best riding in years.... | Rev Bubba Jun 17, 2002 3:58 AM | | Sorry I missed you. Were you at site 17 with Heff? If so, I did get to say hello Saturday morning.
Anyway, TurboBitch (Sandy) and I had some of the best riding together we had in years. The rain made the easy stuff hard and the hard stuff walkable.
Since it seems to rain every year at MTB, it was no different then usual. As for any trail damage, let me say that JT is so rocky that the rain tends to just run off and the soil is of that mine sand consistancy that absorbs most of what falls from the sky except the rider. Ouch....
More details later when I do a writeup.
Peace. |
| Over Here REV | mtber Jun 17, 2002 7:38 AM | | Hey Rev! I would of loved to ride those new trials. I rode the Rim/"RIDGE" trail on Friday afternoon. I've rode Jim Thorpe before but never the Rim! What a Drop that is. I didn't have a water proof camera so I didn't take my camera on that ride. The thought of a slip along that section of trail and your DONE! It was a site to see. On Saturday I rode the deer path trial early in the mourning then my group took a single track trail that lead to the bottom of a vally with no way out except back up(1 hour hike a bike))! That sucked but the downhill was fun. In the afternoon I rode the swithcback trail with Chris the Giant Rep. from California and BOB the Giants Distributors son. It was great seeing a Roadie trying a little downhill (to the left of the wall) not bad but he was timidly slow but successful. On Sunday the breakfest ride was great, the breakfest was awesome. I meet some great people and had a blast "In the rain"! To bad Bike Breath Doesn't ride in the rain. He should run for IMBA President!(LOL)Only joking. |
| Oops, sorry. | Rev Bubba Jun 17, 2002 8:02 AM | | I did meet other Passionites but after a while the names began to run together.
Yeah, that rim trial really was survival biking. You fall off the side, you die, thank you very much.
Sounds like you ended up in coal cracker at the bottom of the rim. I think I was there last year.
That Giant guy is really nice. I used an AC2 last year but had already purchased my I-Drive because the AC's were not available at the time. Too bad, a very nice bike for Jim Thorpe.

| Oops, sorry. Coal Cracker Humm? Long Post | mtber Jun 17, 2002 8:58 PM | | Well, that sounds about right. Do you remember anything of the trail? Where you come out of the deer path trail and make a right, take that wide fire road to the next intersection and there is that single track on your left( That One), you can either take it, go straight (more fire road)( or right, long Fire road which takes you back to the parking area.) That single track trail is all DownHill, Rocky(Of Course), A Y in that trail L&R we took the right. There is a tree across the trail half way down that you have to climb over. Then you hit a switchback that goes left further down and get's dangerous. Well, we took that trail almost to the very bottom were you ride along a little river/Stream. We looked up and said there are two hudge Mountains between us, we're in a Vally, we should head back. What an adventure it was. On the way back where that Y was we were going to try that but wasn't sure if it would lead to the same result. Any knowledge of that trail/ or where that left turn leads to, if it is the coal cracker? |
