NW/Seattle peeps: A little help, pleeze?Paul B

Here's my situation; maybe you can help.

I'm flying into Seattle on July 3rd with a non-biker, and renting a bike when I get to town. I've basically negotiated one day for riding, while the Bike Widow does her own thing. Consequently, it's awfully important I find that One Really Great Ride to do on my one day of riding. I'm looking for something moderate-to-difficult and on the long side, maybe 4 or 5 hours. I've been eyeballing Ranger Creek (from a personal recommendation), but I'd definitely like your inside information. I'll be staying in Seattle for a couple days, then heading up to Vancouver for the rest of the trip.

What I think could be really cool would be to hook up with one of you for a one-day tour. It would be even cooler if we could carpool somehow, so the Bike Widow isn't stranded without transportation. But, being a poor writer-type, I can't offer much except:

* Gas money,

* A very nice meal after the ride,

* A copy of my book,

* Identical treatment for you guys if/when you should ever come down to Arizona, and

* My eternal gratitude.

And that's my plea. Pathetic, really, and we've never even met. I usually save my pathetic pleas for close friends.

So...what do you think? Interested? Repelled?

Looking forward to hearing back,

I'm a doofus. Bike Widow informs me I'm actually arriving around noon on the 4th, so I won't be able to ride 'til the 5th.

In related news: Any recommendations of good places to rent bikes?

Thanks,

Me -- without a bike. Captive in a tiny rental car as we drive around and around and around. Trying not to be too resentful that I'm in frigging VANCOUVER without a bike. Hopefully recovering from a full day of riding the day before.

That's all the sordid details. I'd love to ride, but it ain't in the cards. :-(

Is it a time problem or lack of bike problem?CraigH

Might be able to fix the lack of bike problem, depending on what kind of riding you want to do, how big you are, etc.

Both. I could only negotiate one day of riding -- long story -- and unfortunately that day is the 5th, when I'm in/near Seattle. Waah!

Thanks for the offer. I'll drop a line if my itinerary changes (or if I get a little more leash -- maybe a morning ride of the 8th?).

Namaste,
