Downieville was fun.(28 posts)

Downieville was fun.Zonic Man

Day One was spent with half the group riding the "Downieville DH" while Suzy took the camera on the ride with one of her girlfriends. They did the XC loop/course....29 miles with 4,200' of climbing at altitude. Ouch.

Day Two was spent with a LATE start to the ride...because I was contemplating going home to watch Tiger make history...but cooler heads prevaled (Suzy) and we made it out for a run down Big Boulder/Third Divide/First divide. Good times.

So I guess you guys did ride again yesterday. You missed a sweet crash where Laura went over the bars and landed on her head in sharp rocks. I actually yelled "Ohhhhh!" It looked nasty. And I think it's time for a new helmet for her.

I took a look at your line yesterday. I never would have seen it if you hadn't told me. Didn't try it yet, though. The only problem I have with that line is there's a huge cliff just to the right and if you blow it the consequences could be huge. But I'll probably try it anyway.

Nice photo, too. It would have been awesome if Suzy hadn't of chopped your head off.

Thanks for getting us up there. It felt good to be back. Downieville feels like home.

Those are great pictures. What time of year is best to ride Downieville? With the National Forest closures in AZ this summer there's no riding in Flagstaff.

We didn't make it up there Saturday. Amanda wasn't recovered completely from her food poisoning. Oh well, got two looooong rides in Auburn. We'll be up there this weekend for sure.

I like that pic for "Attn: Photo John" I run that line on the right of the rock face too, but I don't get ANY AIR! DAMN!

............rode D-ville...everytime I see a write up I start craving to head up, just never followed through. Ill have to change that this year. Looks like a blast!

Oh by the way, you sound like a major candidate for an Ultimate TV, Tivo or Replay TV, whatever....youll never have that need to blaze from a killer weekend of riding to watch some TV again, that is unless you HAVE TO see it live type of thing...

Adrian
Very nice pics! Looks like a beautiful place to ride... (nm)AZ-X
