| Worlds collide...Where have I seen that bike before? | Greyhound Jun 17, 2002 8:18 AM | | OK... as I'll freely admit, my "southern gentleman" manners have a nasty habit of escaping me at the most inopportune times. It has, over the years, contributed to many an awkard moment that I care not to ruminate on at this moment. However, since this involves another fellow Passionite, I'll just have to suck it up and fess up to my blunder....
Friday, as I was in my LBS to hook up with a late afternoon trail ride with some of the fellas, something caught my eye......
"Hey.....where have I seen that bike before?" I said, kinda rhetorically---hoping someone could clue me in. The woman nearest to it looked as perplexed as I did. "I know that frame looks real familiar." I said with a studied look. I went on about the usual b.s. with some of the sales staff(do they ever really work?)when it hit me.....Bam!! I wheeled around to the woman again and said, "Didn't you post that bike on mtbr.com?" "Oh yeah, that's probably where you've seen it" she said. I could see the confusion now start to disappear from her face. "I was wondering where on Earth you could have ever recognized this thing from."
Now, as you can see from the picture, and many of you will recognize, that *rt* is a radiant representation of the fairer sex, with an energetic personality. This would have made a great time for ultra-smooth segueway into an introduction.....two Passionites meeting by coincidence. No, true to form....I keep asking dorky questions about the bike. It wasn't until I was hurrying out the door to ride that I even introduced myself. Bad manners towards a fellow Passionite. Two minutes in the penalty box for Greyhound.
...sorry, *rt*. I should have mentioned how easily I was distracted by shiny objects......great to meet ya though. I promise to get out of Mayberry and ride New Light with you guys soon. |
| no worries! | mtbfreak9er Jun 17, 2002 9:38 AM | | i'm easily distracted by shiny objects as well! hope you guys had a great ride on friday. btw, the little bike is almost back together, & boy is it ever SHINY!! rt |
| Ummmm...what were you saying? | Greyhound Jun 17, 2002 9:58 AM | | ....kinda spaced out there for a second---piece of tin foil on the ground over there in the corner..... |
| wha...? who are you? | mtbfreak9er Jun 17, 2002 10:01 AM | | you mean there were other people in the shop besides me and all those bikes? rt |
| Hey rt... | Bordershy Jun 17, 2002 12:04 PM | | Who is the Border Collie and why don't you bring he/she with you next time you come to Pisgah. |
| that's Yo!.... | mtbfreak9er Jun 17, 2002 12:28 PM | | he's a year old, belongs to my parents, and is WAAAAAAY too hyper to be a trail dog. not to mention he hates riding in the car and would, therefore, be a lousy companion for a 3+ hour trip. his job is to hang around the 6 acre homestead and scare the deer away from the gardens. rt |
