| CA carpool lane ticket question... (sorry not MTB related) | hedgehog Jun 17, 2002 8:26 AM | | I need to talk to someone in CA who has recieved a diamond lane (carpool lane) ticket. Did your ticket count as a point on your record like a speeding violation? I'm worried about my insurance going up.
If no one has first hand knowledge of this, does anyone know of a website that has the answer? |
| i think so | moschika Jun 17, 2002 8:41 AM | | i believe you get a point for this. of course you can pay the fine and go to traffic school and not get the point for this.
here's a link to the laws.

what were you doing in the carpool lane without a passenger anyway? |
| actually... | hedgehog Jun 17, 2002 9:16 AM | | it was on a two lane on ramp. I got cut off and swerved (I could have slammed on brakes, but was to lazy and didn't think switching back would be an issue) to the other lane. That's when I rounded the bend and noticed that the meter was on and I coundn't get back into the correct lane (filled with drivers who didn't feel like letting me cut in). This on ramp is on a curved overpass and I wasn't looking around the bend, so all this sort of snuck up on me.
I now realize the reason the guy in the pickup cut me off was 'cause he saw that the meter was on so he swerved to get in front of me (in the metered lane). I should have braked hard instead of getting out of the lane... oh well. |

Lets hear the story, why were you rollin in the Carpool lane? |
| See reply to moschika for what happened. But... | hedgehog Jun 17, 2002 9:28 AM | | Thanks for the info! That is great news and is what the CHP officer told me (I just have a problem trusting authority and wanted to independently confirm it). I think he felt sorry for me seeing as how I got cut off and all... he didn't feel sorry enough to put away his ticket book though.
I'm still gonna fight it and see if I can get the $271 fine reduced. Hell, maybe the cop will still feel sorry for me and won't even show up (wishful thinking). |
| Hmmm.. | Snookums Jun 17, 2002 12:38 PM | | Have you thought about Traffic School?. Anyways, whats up dude?. Hows the riding coming along?. I haven't rode in like 8 months!. :)
See Ya,
Steven |
