| Riding in Nashville? | gazpachoz Jul 12, 2002 5:10 AM | | I need someone to help me. I am looking for rides in the Nashville area. I recently moved here from San Diego, and am in dire need of some good trails. Are there any Nashville locals who can point me in the right direction? Please feel free to email me directly if you've got advise.
Thanks |
| Nashville | Hollis Jul 12, 2002 5:43 AM | | Hello Gaz, Hamilton Creek is the most centrally located trail and the most challenging trail in Middle TN.
Lock 4 in Gallatin is nice as well as Fairview in Dickson (aka Bowie Nature Park).
Futher South, we have Chickasaw Trace in Columbia (not bad for and old landfill...yum).
Saturday at 9am is Trail Maintenance Day at Hamilton Creek, it'd be a good time to meet some locals and take the grand tour afterwards. |
| Why are you here in Nashville? Who did you piss off? | singltraxx Jul 12, 2002 6:58 AM | | San Diego is the bomb! I just moved back to Nashville from stays in Tucson and Durango and the scene here is totally different than the west. I am just getting back into riding and have only done Lock 4 and due to weather only the training loop at Hamilton Creek. Hamilton Creek is about as close to anything out west your gonna get in Middle TN. This is due to its technical parts which in perspective is the norm for most trails out west. I have heard that in Monteagle at the Franklin State Forest(about an hour and fifteen minutes from Nashville) there is some good riding and then the eastern part of the state is pretty good from what I've been told.
Most of Middle TN from is pretty rolling terrain from what i've been told. Lock 4 is fast and you can get the heart rate up. Thing about the trails here is they are wet alot and everyone is pretty anal about you riding on them after it rains. Not saying this is bad, I just never encountered this much out west. People rode out there in the rain. If you are looking to ride then you can email me. Warning!
I am just getting back into the sport, and I have a Rockhopper A1 Comp
so I don't go bombing down sick lines and I am still working on endurance level. If Hollis reads this I would like to do trail work around here but this Saturday there is a conflict so I can't. I wasn't dissing the trails here either because I don't have the knowledge of the area to properly do so. Well Gaz welcome to Nashville. I personally live in Murfreesboro about 30 minutes away.
PS Hey Gaz what do you think about this humidity? |
| What Humidity? | Hollis Jul 12, 2002 7:50 AM | | Its been a fairly cool summer so far, wait til August ;o)
I've hear rumors of secret "Shore" type trails in East TN, but I havent sampled them yet. Norris Dam, Haw Ridge, & Clemmer are supposed to be prime E. TN trails. I've been to Monteagle once and I must have missed the technicle parts, thats where this "Glamour" shot was taken.
Maybe the three of us should ride Sunday? |
