| New. Bike. Completed. | Evil 1/2 Jul 12, 2002 8:22 AM | | Took over a week to finish it, but my Surly project is complete!
Here's the spec. Sort of a "freeridish" XC hardtail:
Surly Instigator (in retina-scalding orange!)
Fork: Manitou X-Vert
Stem: Bontrager 90 mm
Post: Thomson
Handlebar: Bontrager Crowbar riser (without the goofy cross-bar)
Cranks: XT
Derailleurs: XT front and rear
Shifters, brake levers: XT
Pedals: Old beat-to-shyte Shimano 747's right now, Sun-Ringle flats are on the way
Seat: Ritchey Vector Lite
Wheels: 36h Mavic 521, XT disc hubs
Brakes: Avid Mechanical w/ new freeride rotors (about 7 1/4" in diameter, looks strong)
Headset: Chris King (was there any doubt?)
Tires: IRC Kujo 2.3" front and rear
Took a brief ride this morning around town to check my adjustments. Felt weird riding asphalt on a slack-angled bike with big tires and a 4" fork, but I think it will feel sorted out on the trail. Can't wait! |
| Any pic's?....enjoy the new ride....nm | sheebo Jul 12, 2002 8:32 AM | | |
| There is art.. | Evil 1/2 Jul 12, 2002 8:49 AM | | ..in describing a bike without the use of pics.
Which is a lame way of saying that my digital camera broke 6 months ago. :^} |
| scanner always works | freerider Jul 16, 2002 9:21 PM | | you have a scanner? Then you could just take a pic and scan it in. Pain in the ass, but it works. Looks like a nice ride. |
| Very nice... | El Jester Jul 12, 2002 8:51 AM | | I looked at that frame but couldn't deal w/ the Orange paint. I just called the LBS and ordered a Rootbeer Brown Chameleon. |
