I live in NH and there are many excellent "East Coast" type rides within a 1 hour radius.

My personal favorite - maybe because it's 5 minutes from work?? - is Fort Rock in Exeter. Very rocky, rooty, challenging singletrack with the odd fun stunt and bridge to boot.

It's also super accessible - in fact, Hwy 101 splits the park in half.. there's a bridge underneat the Hwy that connects the two.

For a bit tamer ride, with more ST routes to choose from - is the "FOMBA" trials near Lake Massabessic just outside of Manchester. Again, very easy to access - it's just off of Hwy 101 before it intersects I-93.

In southern Maine, the classic ride is Mt. Aggamenticus in York. But beware - there are so many trails it is VERY easy to get lost. Best bet is to hook up with someone who knows the way - perhaps a local bike shop from the area or someone on MTBR! I've never ridden there, but I've hiked a bit - looks like fun.

And, if you want one of the premier East Coast MTB experiences, get thee to Lynn Woods! Located just off Hwy 1 in Lynn, Mass is some of the sickest, narliest riding I have ever seen. Giant granite boulders (East Coast slickrock!) provide the long travel set a bounty of hucking opportunities. Don't worry - there's always an "out" to ride around the tough stuff (that's what I do).

That should get you started. There's plenty more - Bear Brook park comes to mind in NH - just start poking around.

been to all of em except lynnwoods...we are stayin away from lynn cuz the landowners and park people are startin to get mad at the riders for crossin private property and buildin ramps...there are many other places to ride without goin to areas that people are gonna get at mad at me
