Tahoe PicsXC Rider

I had a great time at Tahoe. Thanks to Bigboulder Steve for putting this all together. As the pics show, I didn't do any riding on any of the trails. It was the longest hike I've ever been on ;) Both days had some of the sweetest single track I've ever been on. It was hard to taste without oxygen, but it still gave me a sugar rush. Especially the bottom section of Toads!

Marc also had a great time. Marc says thanks Steve! Can anyone ID the hand on the left side? :) Note the beautiful blue sky. I looks a little bit different later on.

That was the one taken with the timer, it turned out great. So did the pic of the thunderstorm.
The power of natureXC Rider

Its very humbling to see how powerful nature can be. Aside from the gusty winds, thunder, lightning, and rain, I saw a tree fall as I was waiting for Marc and Steve. I heard some cracking sounds and turned around to see a huge tree crashing to the ground. The ground shook as it rumbled to a stop. Marc thought something had exploded.

Here's a pic of the lake from where the one of Marc was taken earlier. Notice the thunder cell trying to fill up the lake.

Day 2, Pass 1XC Rider

I can't remember the name, but this was the first pass on Saturday. From there, you can see the top of where we were going to go to. I can't remember the name, but I will never forget the trek to get there. Its the furthest peak on the left with the snow on it.

More hiking!!! There's Marvin behind me. This was a really tough climb. Someone decided to put stairs and big boulders in the middle of the trail ;)

Marvin cools off his knees at the top of the third(?) pass.

We hadn't seen any other riders for a loooooong time. Someone left a little snowman to greet us and point us in the right direction. Snow in July!
Hey, is that Fast Eddy's snowman ???? (nm)Spiff

CGonzo(?) refills at Star Lake as Marvin waves to the camera. Me on the left. Special thanks to Derek for bringing the water filter. He saved a lot of suffering for some.

Thought I'd throw this in because it makes me look like a giant. The mountain behind is are over 9000' tall you know! I can't remember where this was. Again, I'm not doing any riding.

Now I understand how you guys at the back got confused....that is not one of the passes at all.......that is just before the short little fireroad that connects back to the TRT under the ski lift...a couple miles before the first pass...Monument Pass (aka "the exposed sandy death staircase"). Freel Pass is next (the higest point of the ride...after star lake)....Armstrong pass is actually the low point between Freel pass and the top of the last summit....before heading down to toads.

I blame it all on the lack of oxygen. You gave us a map, but it didn't compute that I should read it. :P Thanks again for a great time and thanks to everyone for waiting for us at the end :)
Day 2, Pass 1Twain

A great ride for sure. The peak on the left is Jobs Peak. From this spot the trail head up over Monument Peak Saddle and then onto

Star Lake which is far to the right and out of this picture. I live in tha Carson Valley below so have enjoyed this ride a lot.

XCrider,

Is that a 98 Ziggurat you are riding? I rode one for a long time, and loved it. If you ever decide to sell the frame, please let me know (I am serious, I loved that bike).
