will somebody please make the goatheads go away?grundy

Uggh. The damn things seem to be everywhere all of a sudden. I flatted out twice last night - front and rear - and just now noticed that both tires are flat again. Looks like I picked up goatheads in both tires a second time - luckily they stayed in and I made it home on them.

Four flats in one ride... and I was just thinking about how long it had been since I had a flat.

I hate those damn things.

This is the time of the year when they have dried out and are ready to do damage. The slime liners ($12) work well but are heavy and stiff. Spinskins work against goatheads and are light, but fall apart after a season if you are lucky. Get them on Ebay for about $20. Slime and/or slime tubes will help against everything but the larger punctures and tears. The cost here is weight. I'm always short on time for rides, so spending time on the trail dicking with flats just doesn't work. They suck.

slime liners and they have changed a bit. Only about 70 grams each instead of 110 grams. They are definitly thinner and more flexible, but will they hold back the dreaded Goathead. I'll post my results.

...for the chemist who figures out how to kill those bas#%rds without killing everything else. I'm lugging trail signs up a new trail(with no goatheads) when the guy in front of my flattens - you guessed it, a goathead he stuck in his tire down in Denver. Can't get away from them.
