What: The 3rd Annual DR1 Memorial Weekend
When: Labor Day Weekend (August 31st thru September 2nd)
Where: Peoria, IL/Iowa City, IA
Why: To gather together in fond rememberance of DaleRider1 in the manner he would have preferred (to ride some of his favorite trails while enjoying one another's company).
What began 2 years ago as a simple get together of a few of DR1's friends continues yet again as the invite goes out to mtb'ers from around the country to once more come together in rememberance of a man who had been a special friend to all. We gather not to mourn but instead, to celebrate, to come together to embrace a small part of what made Dalerider who he was. We came to greet new friends, to renew old acquaintances, to ride and, last but certainly not least, to have a great time. Drop me a line if you are interested and I'll put you on the list.
The plan is to do some riding in the Peoria area as well as at Sugarbottom so there are some different options available. In a slight shift from past year's ride we have moved the Sugarbottom ride from Sunday up to Saturday the 31st. If you can only manage to make it out for one day then saturday at Sugarbottom will definitely be the day you want to be there. For those who can make it a full weekend of riding we will be heading back to Peoria for more hitting the trails on Sunday and Monday. I will be putting out an e-mail within the next few days to all who have expressed an interest in attending detailing the ride schedule and providing info on camping and/or hotels. Hope you can join us!
