just curious as to where you had the opportunity to sample Iron City beer? Do you live anywhere near Pittsburgh? thanks.

I'm in Phx. When Phx hosted the Super Bowl, I had a good buddy who was going to ASU and who was a huge Steelers fan (he may have been from PA). He actually won tixs to the game through school (the game was held at ASU's statium, and the school raffled off 100 to students).

To celebrate the Steelers and him going to the S.B., he bought like 10 cases of Iron City beer from one of the local liquor stores that specalized in "unique" beer. That is all we were allowed to drink S.B. weekend.

I still have nightmares of that beer :-)

that stuff sure can give you nightmares if you have too much of it. After 5 to 14 bottles, it takes on a metallic taste. The cans from the late 70's Super Bowl wins featured photos of the teams and came in 16oz "pahnder" cans, i still have some even though i wasn't of drinking age yet.

good ole iron city can be had here in frostburg too. you can actually buy the 16 oz. bottles in the heavy duty cardboard case w/ closable lid. the bottles are returnable, and as far as i know, the only beer you have to pay a deposit on in this area. btw, i followed up your last follow up.

I live and work in Pittsburgh, but ride all over western PA. Have you ever tried Stoudt's A.P.A.? As far as IPA's go, that's a tasty one. I recently had a couple of cases of Victory Hop Devil that was very good. I've always wanted to take some time off from work and do a road trip of all the PA breweries, spending one night in each town. I agree, Yuengling ought to be cheaper than it is in pubs. We usually take yuengling when we go camping, the reason is long forgotten but it's become some kind of tradition.
