in La Jolla (San Diego).

The road goes right along the beach at the low spot and then up the hill to UCSD and Torrey Pines golf course.

Where is this?
Not Torrey PinesYeti_Rider

If it was, you'd be able to see the road that parallels PCH through Torrey Pines State Park. Plus, there's no parking lot at the base of the hill in the picture like at the beach.

It does look like it though

I just saw your post from last night about the broken spokes. Bummer. I got a chuckle out of the LBS issues. I frequent CA Bikes in La Jolla as it's my closet shop and have had great dealings with them. They built my MTB wheels and I've since bought a road bike from them. Nothing but good vibes so far.

Just goes to show how different experiences can be with the same shop (or same shop employee) from day to day and from rider to rider.

No real point here, just thought I'd chime in.
Yeah, I know it's mostly the employeeYeti_Rider

but it just rubbed me the wrong way you know? I more than likely wouldn't shop there since it's out of the way but it definately left a sour taste in my mouth.

I know that for every bad story there are 10 good ones and vice versa but I've been in many shops before and have seen them loan out tools for parking lot repairs. I guess I should have mentioned that I the customer had to measure the spokes myself (he provided a tape measure) and maybe that just got me started that I'm the paying customer (yeah, they were only spokes but still) doing all the work anyway.

Sweet shot! Question..why is it called Norcal if you live only2melow
Aug 9, 2002 10:24 AM
2/3rds of the way up the state? I would consider Arcata on up norcal (but that's just me.)

I plan on getting up real early and riding some of my backyard trails tomorrow morning followed by a dip in the reservior. It's dry, but it's fast and fun... I wish I lived by the coast right about now though!

Nor Cal starts just below San Luis Obispo. Mark Weir claims everything south of the Golden Gate is So Cal. But what does he know? It's a state of mind as much as a geographic location.

Shinkage factor is pretty high this time of year if I recall...

Still, love those beaches off Hwy 1.
Shrinkage is pretty major, err minor anytime of the year.Biking Viking
