spoke to the owner of the shop who does know the difference. Just figured I'd double check before I bet the guy he was wrong.

I think that's why the ISIS venture was started (between CK, RF and FSA/Truvativ); because shimano wouldn't license their splined bb/crank interface design. so the 3 other companies jointly developed the design standard and made it free to any mfg who want to make the stuff.

but I have been out of the loop for two months. I told the guy I really thought he was wrong but he insisted that Shomano made one. I was going to call him back and ask him if he wanted to bet me so the trip was worth my while. Instead I got the owner of the shop who knows his stuff.

Not sure cause I use race face/isis myself, but is not Shimano's splined version called octalink??
