An observation…..(13 posts)

An observation…..Ska!
Sep 6, 2002 6:58 AM
A planned night ride last night brought three riders together. Three riders bunched up in a small VW for a one hour drive to the trailhead. One full hour with three guys who have a lot to say makes for interesting, heartbreaking, stressful, humorous, etc., etc. conversation. A regular roller coaster of emotions! A soap opera if you will.

Some conversation was the regular stuff but at times it wasn't. One minute you could be feeling bad for the guy next to you, then someone else cracks a joke and we're all laughing. One minute someone is pissed and measurably emotional (through tone of voice) about a recent event in life for example and recruiting "backup" which we are all too eager to supply. YEAH!! F*&k the world!!!! That's total B.S!!! You know? ;-)

It was my silent and personal observation that once at the trailhead, all discussion of personal issues ceased. It wasn't by design either. No one said "No talking about our personal crap when we get there..." it just naturally happened.

Three guys with three separate lives with there own individual obstacles in life all now thinking only of what was going to take place within a few moments. A ride. Talk changed to parts, the latest gear, fat jokes, hairy backs and recent crashes. It was all laughs and mostly bike related. Stresses forgotten. The bike brought us peace of mind and a total escape and we hadn't even hit the trail yet!

The ride was great, the conversation was great, the weather was perfect and the company was fantastic. What more could you ask for?

Nothing.

Have a good one.

Ska!

Part of one conversation.

Ska!: "I found out I have low white blood cell count......Doctor wants to do tests.........I find I'm often completely exhausted........that's just not right, especially for me........"

Scroggs: "I had the same problem once...........always tired........it sucked........went to the Doc......turns out I was just really bored!"

Ska!, mac "LOL"
I find riding makes that stuff go away....Battman42

Maybe that is why I feel like I'm being chased when I'm not riding...

Or I'm seriously addicted to endor-fun...

Enjoy those rides...

Mac attended the Pocono Micro Gathering and he freaked everyone out with that stuff.

People would tell him jokes and he'd shout "AR OH TEE EFF EL EMM AY OH", he'd get up to go to the can and say "Bee Ar Bee", etc. Weird stuff.
haha (lol) .. nmd2az

why BS seems to disappear on a ride? Especially when the light is low and you are moving fast enough that you can't concentrate on anything but the trail...

Ive long held this belief too...namaSSte

the fact that your focus is so acute while riding singletrack brings everything into that single spot in time. In a way, it makes things very very simple and I think that from that simplicity, comes peace.

Namaste,
