side to side play in pedals(4 posts)

side to side play in pedalsTONIGHTWERIDE

Im thinking of getting new pedals cause mine have too much side to side play and it can become difficult to deal with on rides over 10 miles. Do eggbeaters hold your foot in place? if not, any suggestions on a pair that will (under $150 US)

also, do the gel inserts in lycra shorts make a big difference in the quality of a ride? does the comfor justify a $100 pair of shorts?

Try replacing your cleats first. Do you have Times? The short question is just to personal.

I second that. Replace your cleats first if you've had them on your shoes more than 8-12 months.

As for gel, I'd tell you personally not to spend the cash on it.

It's thicker (less ride sensitivity), and can create more constant pressure on points that don't want it. Give it a try if they'll let you return it! If you have discomfort, try out some different seat designs, I went through 4-5 seats before I found one that worked for me. Good luck!

Try the cleats first but if you are ready for new pedals anyway go for the new shimano 959s. I just got a pair and I love them. I had bought a pair of eggbeaters but I just didn't love them. The 959s have a really nice adjustment screw with a very positive clipped in feel. Excellent quality.

Shorts and seats are just such a personal thing. I just switched to a Brooks saddle -the classic B-17. Its the first time in years that I am NEVER sore no matter how hard or long I ride.

or go fo a real mans saddle :
