Three Wilder and crazy guys...Finch Platte
Oct 6, 2002 7:23 PM
So, Joe Steel posts about a ride at Wilder Ranch in Santa Cruz- and no one responds. I decide to go, Jilm hooks up with me and we meet Joe in the Wilder parking lot. After a few jibes, we're off.

Marvelous stuff! Lots of the singletrack in the park proper is now off-limits, but a good ride is still possible by including fire roads in Gray Whale and more stuff behind the USC campus. We got plenty of mileage in, and right now, my legs are protesting (albeit happily) the workout.

After the ride, we drove into town to 99 Bottles Of Beer On The Wall bar/restaurant. 99 types of beer are available, many on tap. Mmmmmmm! the food is

i very

good- we highly recommend it.

Here, Jilm thinks about having an apple.

I would've come if I'd have known there'd be famous people there.

It doesn't look like you got down to the other side? Doesn't Joe know his way around there?
The "other side"?Finch Platte

You mean the other side of the egg (get it?).

Yup, we sure did. That shot of Jilm getting a little air was right on to Hiway 9.

fp
Yep. Too bad....Joe Steel

We made two runs down "the other side"

In addition to Twin Oaks, Eucalyptus, Enchanted, and Zane Gray.

It was sweet. And don't get me started about the hotties at 99 bottles...
Basdidges, all of you.Fast Eddy

I sat around home deciding if I wanted to go up and shoot pictures of the Stanford race, ultimately deciding to watch baseball and work instead, since I still have pictures to post from the Coe ride about a month ago.

Some dead magic carpet campers would've been just the ticket. And hotties too? Basdidges...
that's UCSC...grundy

looks like fun, I haven't ridden out there in a long time.

Gotta get back there again sometime...it's been too long since I've ridden there (or anywhere on my mtb for that matter)! Thanks for sharing.

"Lots of the singletrack in the park proper is now off-limits..." Are you referring to the stuff that's been closed to all users for years (e.g. Red Mailbox), or something new?
