| south boundary trail - taos | little b Oct 7, 2002 7:46 AM | | On Saturday, 13 of us (that must qualify as a mini-gathering) converged in Taos to ride the south boundary trail. from CO and NM they came. (let's see if i can get everyone) Todd, Brian, Andy, Scott, Mark, Mark, John, Dan, Rich, Joe, Clay, Graeme and me, little b.
we were shuttled (thank you!) over to Angel Fire and up the nasty fire road (you don't really need a tail pipe anyway) to the trail. starting at 10,300 we climbed to 10,700 (ouch)through the beautiful alpine meadows and aspen groves.
they look so serious, is it a race up the hill? |
| climbing | little b Oct 7, 2002 7:48 AM | | the climb was only 1.5 miles, but seemed longer. we were all suffering from the elevation, even the four of us who live at 7500'. poor albuquerqueans. (that can't be a word) |
| still... | little b Oct 7, 2002 7:50 AM | | it was beautiful, if you managed to look up from the dirt just ahead of your tire. |
| butt shot | little b Oct 7, 2002 7:52 AM | | rich and john (?) climbing |
| photographer's advantage | little b Oct 7, 2002 7:53 AM | | if you have a camera, you get to stop as often as you like on the climb. to take pictures, of course. |
| our organizer | little b Oct 7, 2002 7:55 AM | | brian organized the ride for us. thanks brian!
he probably won't be thanking me for this picture. or the next one of him... |
| payoff | little b Oct 7, 2002 7:58 AM | | at the top, we had a quick snack, then took off down the doubletrack. soon, it lead us to sweet northern new mexico singletrack. starting with a few whoops to shake the last bit of climb out of the legs. here's scott (no broken fork this time, but i also didn't make him reride it) |
| That's where I lost my GPS! | lidarman Oct 7, 2002 8:07 AM | | I thought I was never going to find it. |
| look carefully at the photo | lidarman Oct 7, 2002 8:39 AM | | as you can see, I found it. |
| look carefully at the photo | Mtntreker Oct 7, 2002 9:44 AM | | I was wondering what that flash I saw out of the corner of my eye was. I thought it was somthing to do with the Taos Hum, but no it was just Lidarman's GPS.
Scott |
| Why is yours so much bigger than mine? | drew Oct 7, 2002 9:52 AM | | That unit(gps) looks enormous, mine's only, well never mind. Did you get the track log I sent you?

| on and on | little b Oct 7, 2002 8:04 AM | | after the whoops, we entered the aspen forests. the trail was narrow, and smooth (for the most part), covered with a blanket of yellow leaves.
here's john |
| ok, maybe not totally smooth | little b Oct 7, 2002 8:06 AM | | but, i couldnt' really see what he hit. i just heard the noise, but rich claims that brian just had a sudden urge to be one with the trail. |
| aspens | little b Oct 7, 2002 8:09 AM | | I think this is Mark. his day got more interesting. hopefully there will be pictures from someone else to document the amazing events. i ran out of batteries and memory before the astounding part of the day. |
| graeme | little b Oct 7, 2002 8:10 AM | | I'm quite sure this picture violates Finch Platte's patented picture taking method. |
