Anyone Riding A Bullit With The Fifth Element?(2 posts)

Anyone Riding A Bullit With The Fifth Element?hfly

After sending my bent and broken 2001 Bullit back to Santa Cruz and getting a new 2002 front triangle and swingarm sent back (mostly under warranty), I'm eager to throw a Fifth Element shock on the back now. Has anyone else made the switch from a Vanilla RC-equipped 2001 Bullit to a Fifth Element-equipped 2002 Bullit? If so, what are your thoughts regarding the newer suspension? Everyone I've talked to thus far has said that the improved ride will be well worth the $300 I'll pay for the new shock.

Thanks in advance.

Yes, both JimC and I both made the switch....CraigH

as well as a bunch of guys on the DH page.

I'm running a 2002 swingarm & 2001 front triangle with the 5th.

JimC sold his 2001 frame & bought a 2002 with the new 5th.

The change is very worth the $300US for the shock. Two thumbs up!

I find it really improves the suspension action in all regards. The biggest improvement I noticed is that it makes the Bullit much more XC friendly. It is much easier to get the front of the bike up and onto things as compared to the Fox. It comes up like a HT now, as you don't have to compress the spring like you do with the Fox.

I find it seems to climb better too, the little movement the Fox had is gone.

For set up, start from the suggestions on Progressive Suspensions & SC's page and work from there. Getting the sag correct is important.

I've kept my Fox RC as a spare, but I can't ever see my self reinstalling it unless I have to.
