Conyers, GA, need info.......... (4 posts)
| Conyers, GA, need info.......... | Carter Taylor Oct 7, 2002 11:27 AM | | as I will fly in next week on Thursday for the 24 hr race, I'm looking for info. Specific course description, type terrain, possible weather, or anything else that would help me in pre race prep. Staying at a place supposedly right across the road from the pit area, sounds close, but actually how close?
Thanks you,
Carter |
| Horse park? | wb Oct 7, 2002 1:09 PM | | Don't know nothing bout no race, but I've ridden the horse park, and attended a dingo class there, so I've actually built part of it.
Trail is hand-shaped, with the palm being the top of the hightest hill - that's right, you climb this hill five times, once up each finger.
Nearby where the highway crossing is, there is a slab o slickrock which amazed me - slickrock in Georgia?
Much of the trail is dingo-rebuilt, which reads a fast course, hardpack and 30 inch tread in the georgia red clay. Don't expect to have an unstained jersey at the end of the night, one fall =a permenant red streak on your clothing.
When the olympics was there, and the pros rode it, the avg speed was less then 12 mph. Add this to my discription of a fast course and you understand what the climbs are like.
Good luck! |
| Hotel is a stone throw away from staging area. Enjoy! | ScubaCruz Oct 8, 2002 7:44 AM | | See the mtbriews for what the trail is like. See last years times at 24hrsofadrenalin.com to get an idea of lap numbers and times. Preride it Thursday. It'll be marked or so ridden in by locals, you can't get lost.
Good luck with your race. See ya out there.

(Won't be riding but will be pimping SORBA at REI tent some and trolling friends team tents for free beers!) |
