that a good time was had by all. Special thanks to BrianC for arranging the ride and Todd (Krank) and his wife for the breakfast buritos. The riding was stellar and it was great to meet yet more Passionites. Apoligies to any names I screw up or have forgotten. I'm convinced endorphins cause memory loss. My friends Mark (dark hair, a.k.a. Hawk) and Mark (lighter hair, a.k.a. Mean) had a great time as well. Now on to the big show. . .

Riding the top part of SBT reminded me of the scene in Empire Strikes Back where they're on those flying sleds speeding through the forest. Speeds crept up over 20 mph on many of these sections without much effort. This is a rather wide section, some places you had tight trail with a big drop-off to the left with trees to cushion your plument. . .

Not only did Mark ride it out along w/ no front brake, he made a wrong turn and did an extra 15-20 miles on the road to get back to the camp site. His remark; "Until you looked at it, it felt like a perfectly good wheel."

Oct 7, 2002 12:29 PM
Tim couldn't make it Saturday. Mark (Mean aka Taco) and I did SBT again with Tim on Sunday. If anyone says they like climbing, that means they're good at it. Dr. Faustus really likes to climb. He did the trail from the bottom! It still didn't slow him down enough for us.

So, no exciting things on sunday...lidarman

like getting lost?

I downloaded the gps data i had and it looked like the place I dropped Tim off was a little south of where I expected. So, I started wondering if he was in the right place. Sounds like it went together perfectly though.

I had a good time with you guys.

Thanks again to everyone that made this happen and made it a great time as well. Definately one of the best trails I've ridden, I highly recommend it. If you see a picture you like, let me know and I can send you a full size pic.

What a great weekend. Very glad you guys could make it down. I wish I was in shape enough to ride it again with you on Sunday. I think I have to buy some armor now.

Sorry about the camping snaffoo, but welcome to New Mexico.

I sure enjoyed it.

Hey all,

Sorry I missed the big group on Sat., but much fun was had by John, Mark and I on Saturday. Ran into friends on the trail and at home after. All in all an incredible day (riding, scenery, new friends, etc...). Looking forward to riding with you all again!

Hasta,

Dr.(just got in my Tread/ReTread DVD!)Faustus

To think about when it was made and the way they are riding, it puts many "freeriders" to shame.
