On the way to Taos...lidarman

The monday morning photo essays are getting quite competitive for viewing attention. Jeeze, so many people doing excellent riding.

A little detour in Cuchara. No too many people pix since I was by myself.

This pic is on the way up some fat single track--or some really narrow jeep trail.

The decent down Baker Creek Trail was incredible. Much like many of the colorado epics in Fall (Monarch Crest, Kenosha Pass, Commando Run) with twisty, exposed single track with an aspen color show.

I had so much fun blasting down that I didn't photograph the decent.

Once again, looking back up the trail.

Heading out that way for college nationals and need someone to show me the trails. Playing coach so while everyone is out previewing the trail I can go ride whatever.

where is this trail?

In-laws are building a cabin south of fort garland. There is an atv trail behind forbes park (on forest dept. land that goes from forbes park south up to a peak (about 7 miles one way) that overlooks chchura then the trail goes down in to chchura rode it last summer was more asending that i've ever done before (from st louis)was dying by the time i got to the top of the peak but the downhill was awsome and saw a bear on the way back to forbes park. Next summer we are downhilling the roughest road in colorado (near sand dunes)

was bummed durango was on fire when i was in Co.
It's easy to findlidarman

In Cuchara, you leave town to the south and about a mile down the road is a park on the right called Spring Creek. Taking this trail up Dodgeton trail leads to spurs and the Indian Creek trail. You can take Indian creek to the right (north) for miles or go left and wind up at a junction that takes you to a compground or the cool singletrack of Baker Creek trail. The total loop is about 12 miles and 2500' climbing.
