| Anyone tried Gatorade Plus? disturbing photo enclosed | AK Ken Nov 7, 2002 8:41 PM | | I opened a fresh bottle of orange Gatorade a couple of days ago and had drunk about half of it when Clare noticed there was something extra in the bottle.
I'm not exactly sure what this was going to grow up to be, but I terminated it's little life in the garbage disposal.

What you experienced was the remnants of "flavor cubes" they use to make Gatorade. Some ingrediants are powdered, some syrup, some pre-made in concentrated ingots. You won't get sick.
Enjoy and ride on. |
| Okay, if you say so. | AK Ken Nov 7, 2002 10:05 PM | | I thought maybe this was a new "fiber added" version or something.
I've experienced no ill effects other than those generated by the memory of a similar looking mass encountered during a shift in the E.R. one nite....
Thanks.

| Now you know... | TwoWheelinTim Nov 7, 2002 11:07 PM | | what the "Plus" is.
I think I'll stick to the powdered stuff.

| You were in a test market for Gatorade's new product | pedalAZ Nov 8, 2002 4:12 AM | | You know how a bottle of Mexican Mezcal has an agave worm in it to enchance the flavor, and providing an always interesting topic of conversation, if not a challenge? Well, the marketing folks at Gatorade have emulated their colleagues from south of the border by coming up with what they call the Gatorade Energy Slug. You just found one! |
| Does that make me a wiener? | AK Ken Nov 8, 2002 6:23 AM | | er...winner? The difference between the worm and the slug is:
As you approach the worm in the bottom of the tekillya, you're self anesthetizing in preparation for consumption of the protein product. No such luck in the Gatorade.
I surreptitiously dropped a peanut M&M into my buddy's bottle of Pepsi once. It foamed and bubbled and carried on till the chocolate was all eaten off the peanut. He couldn't figure out what the rest of us were so amused with till he neared the bottom of the bottle, tipped it up and the peanut rolled down and touched his lips. He thought it was gum.
I was glad he didn't have a gun.

| haven't tried it, but how about this...... | Dave B. Nov 9, 2002 6:06 AM | | I have a cousin who got a thumb in a can of soda(to remain unnamed-don't need a lawsuit against me!)-he now will not drink anything out of a can-only bottles that he can see through. And some friends who used to work construction got something extra in a roll of insulation once-a hand. Turns out it was an industrial accident and the roll somehow made it out of the building without them finding the hand! I buy the Gatorade power and add my own water-so I see what is going into it-and cheaper too. |
| Gives new meaning to the term "third hand" | AK Ken Nov 9, 2002 9:31 AM | | Yoicks!
We usually buy the powdered stuff and mix at home, but the local City Markup had a 2 fer 1 deal on Gatorade in the bottles. What a deal, eh?
Hard to find the powder in the more exotic colors, so we were livin' large with the Fierce Flavors. The unidentified mass was in plain old orange, though, so I'm not sure what to think.
