Dec 15, 2002 7:07 PM | | Hey NorCal 'crossers. Race #3 of the 5-race Redwood Cyclocross Series is January 25. The 1.2-mile course is in Arcata's Redwood Park and under the giant redwoods of the adjacent Arcata Community Forest, right next to Humboldt State University.
Race #4 is at Redwood Acres in Eureka. The 1-mile course uses the 3/8-mile paved oval auto speedway, the dirt infield and the grassy slopes around the speedway. Good stuff.
Race #5, "The Finals" is at Almquist Lumber in Arcata. This one runs around the grounds of the lumber mill, goes into the woods and skirts the banks of the Mad River. It's double points, we award championship plaques after the days' races, spark up the BBQ, tap the keg (Bigfoot Pale Ale) and raffle off all the series schwag. Lotsa cool stuff from ODI Grips, Intense Tires, Specialized, Rock & Roll Lubricants, Surly and lotsa stuff from local businesses. It's rumored that some attendees will experience fun and a heightened state of giddyness.
