Saturday's Tour....Non MTB pics included.AlloyNipples

It was cold on Saturday, no ride was planed, I had all day to do nothing, I took a drive. We have a great FS road loop we ride when it's wet...and it's been wet here, 5 yrs of drought being made up for in 2 months. I went on a scouting mission to check out the roads to see if they were firm enough for Sundays ride. This is what I found

First hint of snow, which it's hard to tell with sepia, nice pic of the truck though. Hey, it's new, cut me some slack.

As I continued to gain elevation.

The southern terminus of the Appalachian Trail at Springer Mtn.

I hope these folks packed their warm clothes, looks like they've been out for a while.

Moving on up the Mtn I stopped at a feed field. This tree looked cold and tired.

I turned around to walk back to the truck and the red blob sneeking through the brush looked kinda cool..to me anyway.

I continued to drive around with my FS map and a GPS. I managed to hook together several singletrack areas with FS road. Anyone up for a 100 mile loop?

Which way? In the middle of nowhere, 5 roads fork.

I was about to take a few pics of a beautiful whitewater creek that was flowing through snow covered rhodadondren then I hear this incredably loud "hoot", I looked up to see the biggest freeking owl!

One big hooter!

Then the CF card was full...someone forgot to delete the old stuff.

As always, no thought provoking quote as with mugg's posts...

"Sometimes a drive alone is lonely, other times it's all you need."
OK, here's a few bike pics.AlloyNipples

I did the David Martin memorial ride Sat. It was really cold, but no snow. 600 riders turned out.

Where were you exactly? That 5-way intersection looks like the top of Winding Stair Gap.
