| Who's working today...log in here. | Bikebreath Jan 20, 2003 5:50 AM | | Pttttttttt!
I biked in and it's Ohhhh so wonderful with only a few cars on the road. I swear it's less than a Sunday morning.
Bb, [ and Pttttttttttt again. ] |
| Check | Mojo Man Jan 20, 2003 5:58 AM | | It's gonna be busy, too. I get to play catch-up.
May have to take a few passion breaks throughout the day. I call them my smoke breaks. |
| This worker drone reporting in... | Steve-O Jan 20, 2003 6:06 AM | | No biking this morning unfortunately... I like all of my ten fingers and toes...
Steve-O (avoiding riding the bike in single digit, cold weather) |
| Toes and fingers are good to have and keep. | Bikebreath Jan 20, 2003 6:15 AM | | It was 30-32 degrees here and my limit is 28°. The rest of the weeks highs are not supposed to not make it close to that, so I'll be in the 4-wheeled cage. I hate how much I like my car. It makes me feel like a weakling.
Funny thing, the wind is suppose to shift [not in my favor] in the PM and temps only rise a few degrees and by 5PM I maybe in for a colder ride home.
Bb, [ note to self; upon arriving home, count toes. ] |
| The really funny thing about frostbite... | Twilight Error® Jan 21, 2003 4:20 AM | | While its hurting, you're still pre-frostbite and in no danger of lasting damage. When they go numb is you've got to start worrying. TE<--- Been there, done that, got the blebs and nerve damage... |
| Working, such that it is...................................... | LakeRaven Jan 20, 2003 8:27 AM | | I have a tie on and everything. Hey Steve-o, you missed a good ride yesterday at DG. It snowed the whole ride. Three singlespeeders and two gearies. A bunch of LBS guys and a new cat named Lee. One of the LBS guys smacked his head on a low branch across the trail so hard it cracked his helmet and he went down for the count. He seemed ok after a few apprehensive minutes. Rode for two hours, the temp in the woods was fine. Out in the open, it was quite brisk. |
| I'm such a wuss..... | Steve-O Jan 20, 2003 10:01 AM | | I said I would go and I didn't...
Lying in bed at 9:00am and the clock radio goes off... WBBM says its 8F outside. The wife starts questioning me about why I would want to go riding when it was so cold....
Anyways.... Without going into detail.... I went back to sleep...
Steve-O (needs some neoprene booties!) |

 |
| ugh... | Allroy Jan 20, 2003 6:14 AM | | you missed some a fun time hitting the concrete in Bulmer!
Found some new stuff to, we didn't get a chance to ride as much as I would of liked, but we did hit the Bank of America building @ Inner Harbor, sweet wall rides! Made it back to drop of the wall into the park a couple more times before it got to dark to ride and went home happy.
-j |
| Mmmm... | Bikebreath Jan 20, 2003 6:21 AM | | If we had coordinated better you could have joined us in some fun little trails in the local park. Traction was pretty amazing even with the snow. It was a blast until my deraileur exploded in flames. Stupid pin fell out of the pivot.
Bb, [ time to hunt for that gift certificate to Horizon Cycles. ] |
| shhh.... | Hjalti Jan 20, 2003 7:07 AM | | ...singlespeed, singelspeed, singlespeed.....

| No & yes. | Mike T. Jan 20, 2003 6:18 AM | | I'm not "at work" but if "work done" equals force x distance then yes. I'm just off out to shovel the drive. When that's done I'll feed the birds and skwerls. I might even go for a sno-shoe in the bush. |
| Make up your MIND, Mr. MikeT. | Bikebreath Jan 20, 2003 6:28 AM | | We are celebrating Martin Luther King Day here in 'Merica. Playin' in the snow with your beach bucket and shovel don't count as work, Mikey and I'm not touching the joke about where you are waking with snow shoes.
Bb, [ dancing on the edge of good taste. ] |
| WTF? | Mike T. Jan 20, 2003 8:43 AM | | Yep I'm aware it MLK day in a Murrica today. I've read a few of his quotes already.
Shovelling that drive sure FELT like work as work = force [me lifting the snow] x distance [me chuckin' the snow]. I was all sweaty (with frozen digits) so it sure DID feel like work.
Maybe Momma T. and I will make a snowman this affy.
Nawww I didn't even say I was "walking" with sno-shoes so ya can't turn that one around on me :o) |

BwaaaHaHaHaHa!!! Just make sure ya got your nitro pills when you shovel the snow, eh, ya old phart!!!

| Ahhh some of us.............. | Mike T. Jan 20, 2003 9:28 AM | | ....have it, Trenticles, and some of us wish we had it. You read that "Mike T.'s Real Profile" every day? Otherwise how would ya remember wot it said?
Momma & me were just watching the woodpecker on the ol'e suet. I think I'll dig me snowshoes outta the shed......or maybe I'll have a nap. Ahhh decisions, decisions! Or maybe I'll sip homemade vin rouge. |
| I'm Offended | Hollis Jan 20, 2003 10:10 AM | | Mike T, I thought this was a family site:
"watching the woodpecker on the ole suet"
Thats no way for you to talk about your wife Sue T.
"I may go for a sno-shoe in the bush"
I dont even want to ask about that, pervert!
hehe
:o) |
| Actually, yes...I DO!!! | Brad Trent Jan 20, 2003 10:12 AM | | It's taped up to the wall above my desk, right above the naked picture of Marla Maples and below the shot of me and Cal Ripken Jr.

Yeah I might still be an ol'e Phart but you've still got a big hooter! Don't make me prove it Trenticles!! |
| Hey Mike... | FFJ Jan 20, 2003 9:48 AM | | what shirt size do you wear? I went to pick you up a shirt and I realized I didn't know your size. I am at work today so reply or email me. Hope you guys are staying safe north of the border.

I'll pick up a shirt on Friday when I'm on dooty.
Mike T. |

| re: Who's working today...log in here. | mischievous Jan 20, 2003 6:18 AM | | Working but dreaming of riding again. I was able to get my first ride in after 2 months yesterday. It was pathetic how out of shape I got that fast. I was dying right out of the gate. oh well, I will hop back on this afternoon and try again.
It is going to be one long @ss day waiting though. |

| I'm working... | DoctorJD Jan 20, 2003 6:31 AM | | We never get MLK day off so its not like I'm missing anything. What IS killing me is that its actually a nice day for riding, the temps here (Ga.) are actually going to hit the high 50's today. After highs in the upper 30's the last couple of days, its gonna feel like Spring. |
| I have the day off, but..... | crashanburn Jan 20, 2003 6:40 AM | | I came in anyways to get caught up on some stuff.
did you ride yesterday? I went to Schaffers for a couple hours yesterday. Cold but fun. Been off my bike too long. |

Thanks for the Xmas card! It was a good one :-)

| I am, and loving it! | FFJ Jan 20, 2003 9:46 AM | | I am at work today. So far I have worked out my abs, did cardio for a half hour and have run three calls. Plus I am getting holiday pay. If I was home I am sure my wife would have me working signifigantly harder. Tomorrow I will enjoy South Mountain or some other delicious trail in the beautiful AZ sunshine. Love my job!

| How was Saturday's ride? | KriZkit Jan 20, 2003 10:19 AM | | I took in a shortie with Andy and JeffK yesterday. I took off early cause of my genuine lack of fitness let them finish alone and ended up getting lost on a trail that was marked as though bikes were allowed but actually it was a hiker only trail for very good reason! I think it led to the old mine. It was beautiful but unridable for the likes of me. Because of this detour I missed a favorite section and walked the bike up steep and down steep rocky switchbacks.
I would much rather be home today. I'd like to take Colin for a short ride. |
| It was bayoooutiful! | Pup Jan 20, 2003 10:26 AM | | To gorgeous. Scary to see all that sunlight in January...
See below: I took J & J on a half-lap of Star Wars to warm up, then around that loop that drops left off 20 at the bottom of the Little Wall and over around the knee of Little Round Top; then up 305 (?) to the Overlook.. then down 310/309. Im surprised ya didnt hear the whooping from your house! They both made it, I was such a proud poppa.
Then we did a lap around Heart and back home down Little Wall (Jamie made half of it) and out SW to the lot.
Had lunch at Brown Lantern too, and I was so zonked it didnt occur to me to call yall to come down for beers until we were almost through, doww!
Looks like this weekend could be sloppy... burn something to the weather gods eh? Maybe if ya stay out on your bike today until the rains come...
P |
| The Brown Lantern is our favorite watering hole | KriZkit Jan 20, 2003 10:45 AM | | It's okay, we were pretty busy Saturday.
Speaking of next weekend. Even if it's dry between now and then won't the bottom bracket deep mudholes at Galbraith still be there ready to suck us up? I'm pushing for something drier if possible. |
| I came in to this today... | Gipple (cant we all get along) Jan 20, 2003 10:05 AM | | My co-workers must love me as much as you passionites!

| Could be worse. | Mojo Man Jan 20, 2003 10:12 AM | | |
| Yes, but may leave early | KriZkit Jan 20, 2003 10:11 AM | | Our conference room is getting a remodel and it's sanding day on the sheetrock. It would be a better day to go for a ride than work. I don't think much will be happening here. |
| Yo Krizkit -- | Pup Jan 20, 2003 10:21 AM | | Run out and catch the 310 / 309 drop trail (you remember: up 20 past the wall to the 305 - ? - that goes up to the "overlook" trail turnoff; but keep going straight instead out to the 310 fork ) before it starts raining again!
I took Jorg and Jamie down on Saturday and it was sooooo bayoutiful. Still in good shape, not too torn up, dry. Happy happy, joy joy..
Happy Half Day
Pup |
| Trails are in fine shape! | KriZkit Jan 20, 2003 10:36 AM | | I was very impressed. Perfect riding weather actually. Good winter for commuting. I don't know if I would take Colin there, in fact, he pulled a muscle in soccer this weekend althought he may be okay to ride. It may just be me for a short jaunt. The plan is to gradually get back in shape for spring. |
| Yep. Sick ,tired, and deadline looming | Dijridoo Jan 20, 2003 10:22 AM | | No ride over the weekend like I planned 'cause I got sick yesterday. Sooo....today means I'm still sick, very tired, crunching against a deadline this afternoon, and a serious freeze coming this week. Which of course means no riding. Fock me.
Good news is I converted my geared HT to a singlespeed finally, so it's at least ready to go when I am. |
| Yes sir...., and the bike in WAS awesome! | OldSchool Jan 20, 2003 10:55 AM | | Only delt with one car before I hit downtown. The dawn was glorious...

| Workin' today... | KrazyKona Jan 20, 2003 1:33 PM | | Workin' today, wish I wasn't...much rather be riding. Oh well. Yeah, little to no traffic, awesome. Wanted to bike in, but unfortunately, both bikes are outta commission at the moment. Gotta work to get the dough to fix the bikes to get to work-its a vicious cycle!
