(Han) Solo in Sedona (long with pics)slowSSer

Well, had a wonderful three day trip to Sedona, with a stop in Phoenix to check out Titus. I took the trip by myself, and that worked well for the whole trip, but only up to a point. Basically, no one to go out and have a pint with!

So, Friday was travel and phoenix. the guys at Titus rock. what a first-class operation. Smaller than the old yeti digs in durango, but way cooler (If you ask me).

Saturday, I rode. Stopped by Bike-N-Bean and got the required cup of joe. They were all gearing up for a "24 hours of Caffeine" semi-race, and had I known about it, I would have planned better. Damn. Next year.

Saturday's ride was the same one that I did with my buddy, Drew, last september. Bell rock to Templeton to Cathedral, little bit of roadie up to Mystic, then Broken arrow, Little horse, HT, and back to Bell rock. I got lost (again) around bell rock trying to find templeton trail- must be that damn Vortex that confuses me.

ok, enough blabbing. hope you dig the pics. first one is out on Templeton

finally out on broken arrow. this was a fun little steep crank. was too busy riding to stop and take pics on cathedral and mystic. It looks like there are plans to develop million-dollar-pus homes out on mystic, as there are electrical and telephone boxes everywhere. damn.
Must be some VERY high maintenance cats...Titan

...looking to move into those new homes. :)

[I'm behaving. This just could have gone in a whole other direction.] :)

the only trail companions i had. bummer. last time i was there I saw lizards galore, and a tarantula with blond streaks. very cool.

this is at the highest point on broken arrow, on the overlook area.

STIL. I at least tried riding this section this time- turned out to be more of a tripod session than riding it. next time, right?
So you did make it to Sedona?Fat-tire

I couldn't have made it on Saturday, but as you'll notice below, I did make it Sunday.

This section made me a bit nervous, but I just held my breath and said, "What the heck." It actually looks worse than it really is; the tricky part is if you take the first section to the far left, you have to make that sharp right. The way to do it is take the first section straight down the middle, then the next left is not as sharp.

It was a rush (and I'm glad I got a pic).

yeah. saw your post below.

that section was tricky because of the nearly 90 degree turn into it at the top. I tried to find a way to drop straight into it, but with no luck. this was one of two that i didnt make- there is another section that is similar down little horse that I also didnt make. oh well!

next time, right?
Yep, there is always next time...Fat-tire

I can't do that section later on as well...but I will (try) next time :-)

dont want to speak for fat-tire here, but I dont do 8 foot drops.

1-2 feet is my max.

I remember that exact obstacle on the trail. I tried to ride it, and have the scar to prove it.....

Love Sedona, and will be back there 3rd week in March this year! WooHoo!

...y'all want to take the direct line, it is easier. Going around the mess at top requires a tricky turn, and LOTS of balance....
