What weight bike do you ride? I have gotten mine up over 40 pounds and climb it everywhere. Yet I know some people thing 25 is heavy.

What do yuo think?

...if a bike has less than 3" of travel, the weight's typically underestimated, and if the bike's got more than 5" of travel, it's typically overestimated.

IMO,If it doesn't break, perfect. Heavy? Oh well. Since I don't race, weight isn't a consideration for my type of riding, it's just slower to climb-that's all. that and the stong/light/cheap triad equation plays into it as well.

...I bet you'd do that climbing a whole lot faster if your bike was 15 pounds lighter. Of course, a 25lb bike isn't going to be nearly as fun once you get it pointed downhill.

I've got 38lb and 27lb bikes, both hardtails. One is better at climbing and one is bombproof and better at going downhill. Unfortunately I can't ride with two bikes at once.

Whichever bike I take out, I still have a blast so I guess weight doesn't really matter.

Cheers

I stopped keeping track of the weight of my bike when I stopped using the same tires for every ride. Now the weight of my ride can increase (or decrease) over 2 pounds, depending on the tires I choose.

When in doubt, I use the big fat heavy tires, cause they're more fun.
