| Anyone using a roof rack on a recent-model Honda Civic? | slowride Mar 21, 2003 7:36 PM | | I have a 97... as far as I can tell, a roof rack will render my antenna unusuable, since it's at the front of the roof and extends backwards. Any workarounds out there? |

No problems with the antenna. The fit kit instructions for the crossbar towers call for the forward towers to be placed 6" back from the top of the windshield. This gives enough clearance for the antenna to angle over the top of the front crossbar w/o any interference. Unless you mount the bike tray on the driver's side to the outside of the tower, you shouldn't have issues with the antenna hitting the tray of your bike either (even with the antenna fully extended). I've had this setup for a few years w/o issue. Fully stock Yakima setup, no workarounds needed. |
| Cool, thanks! | slowride Mar 21, 2003 8:59 PM | | Didn't want to spend the money only to end up with no antenna... |

| Antenna Extender | NotaKnob Mar 22, 2003 1:44 PM | | I have a Yakima rack that blocks the antenna on my 99 Civic. I use an "extender" when I have the rack on. It's an aligator clip attached to a 1.5 meter wire that I wrap around the bar. Radio reception is as good, if not better than the antenna alone.
