| first ride of the season - first crash of the season | dorfpunk Mar 22, 2003 10:51 PM | | Finally got to get out on a real ride yesterday. Been playing around a bit locally on borrowed bikes but that has been it. Then on Friday I got my bike up and going and a friend called to say he was going out to the Alb. So we packed our bikes and went. Two of our little party were there for the climbing so we started with the long ascent to a ciff topped with the ruin of an old monastary many hundred years old. After bidding our friends farewell we rode the high trails for sometime before hitting the big DH. I guess about 3KM of track, a few tight corners and many fun obstacles down to the bottom of the mountain.
Down by the carpark some locals have been hard at work creating a track with all the jumps, bumps and banked corners you could ever want. The idea was to play on it for a while then do the mountain again but I kind of messed up that one by destroying myself on my first jump. What can I say? Inexperience. Too fast, didn't check the jump well enough before hand so wasn't expecting such a steep lip, didn't get my weight back far enough and went OTB. Oh well. Met some cool locals there had a good day, only a few bruised ribs and possible replacement needed for my helmet.
Great day
