I test rode my bike today for the first time since AZSF, and my wrist hurt like the dickens. Full recovery is going to take a while. The venue was Scottsdale's Pemberton Trail, 15.3 miles of easy singletrack. Two miles from the trailhead are the McDowell Comptetitive Loops, site of a local race series (MBAA) during AZSF last weekend. This weekend, it was home to the Nova Desert Classic, a major race, with several factory teams attending. The format was a stage race, with time trials, short track and cross country events.

Today, while I was there, the expert men were doing four laps of the Sport and Tech loops. I got a few snaps at the largest drop on the Tech Loop, and then took a look along pit row.

Another rider getting more air this time . . .

Starting up the long climb on the Tech Loop . . .

Real nice full suspension, titanium Tomac race bike at the RLX team tent. Check out the extensive paint job over the Ti frame. This frame has 3.5 inches of rear travel. They're running FSA cranksets with Time pedals, Fox rear shocks, SID's up front. Also, check out the new Crossmax disc wheels with 24 bladed spokes.

Ralph Lauren Biker Babes warming up. The ice packs on the backs of their necks looked pretty good to me while I was still cooling down from my ride.

A look at the Trek Fuel composite frame at Team Trek. XTR drive train and brakes on these.

I'd love to take one of those full suspension Tomacs out for a spin. They looked light, and had beautiful workmanship and paint.

Thanks for the photojournalism coverage of the Nova race, Scott. I agree; those Tomac bikes look great. Maybe not great for us lardasses, but we can always dream.

Hope your wrist feels better soon!

I got to check out the Revolver at the Litespeed booth at the CHicago Bike Show this weekend. WIth a basic XT/Thomson/Flite/Skareb build is was amazingly light. The factory guy said that they have easily built them in the 23 lb. range...

Damn I miss the days of spending just about every weekend hunting down XC races within reasonable driving distance. I even did 2 NORBA Nationals on season. The good ole days...
