Made the longass 75 mile drive to NE Ga going crosscountry cause of gridlock on the atlanta perimeter from big weekend projects starting up. God theres too many people here now. Anyway...finally made it of course. Rode about 16-17 miles at Chicopee, then loaded up and rode the kickass new xc racecourse at the Agricenter and rode it while stopping to get some pics of that awesome 4.5 mile loop(the race will be 11 miles i think using this as part of it)as its got everything one could want. fastass descents, 3 climbs with one being a "good" one. jumps, long smooth bigring straight, tight dark pine scetions with whoops all thru it, steep tall drop-aways at places you least expect it, planted rock gardens, and its aaaaaaaaaaall singletrack made wide where it can for some better chances of passing on such.

anyway, these are chicopee. 2 dudes that lurk here saw me on the trail and introl'd themselves. was a pleasure talking to you both. i love the 2nd half of that long fast downhill section.

dude riding by as i was stopped for my lunch(2 bags of gorp..um boy)while doing zipzag backwards.

One of the many short but steep climbs, except for 2-3 climbs that is.

just some n ga woods action. nice creek trickling below. 70*..blue sky. very nice.

all the trails come together just before pop'n out into this open powerline. can cross the babyhead filled creek, or the bridge. another bridges lays off to the right as well. very rough rock turn leading to this just in front. 4x4's hold this corner(under it)up, so you do not want to miss this turn.

Aforementioned lurker here. Good talking to you at Chicopee, Duck. You're one fast mofo - or maybe I'm just too slow! Hope to see you again. Keep up the enjoyable posts!
Was hoping to come across you guys againDuckman

and snag a pic for post action. Oh well. Hey, i saw you in the corner of my eye while in that last steep fast left and down switchback. Thought you were moving right along nicely as well, if i do say so myself. Good looking Surgar too, by the way. Give me a howler anytime. I just love to ride. Will post pics from the Agri, Soap Creek(today), and Blankets(today), later tonight or in the week.

Take care,

Duckster

Yeah, me too. I paused for just a few seconds after the creek crossing to wait for my buddy, and you were gone, never to be seen again! I love that downhill section, too - what a blast!

Since we had already ridden some at the Ag center, we skipped the zig-zag, and just did the outer loop. I've never ridden zig-zag backwards - have to try that sometime. We met a guy visiting from Richmond, VA, soon after we saw you, and rode with him the rest of the day.

Later,

later on while doing zip zag(4/5ths is easier, but that climb up those steep tight switchbacks where that tree squeeze is..is tough, cause it goes up for a ways past that too. The trails not designed to go that way, but its badass right there for sure. Made it too. I was way over my LT the last half tho, and my body was screaming to stop, but you go on..the whole time thinking your body cannot do anymore, but the also knowing you will. The good kinda pain..ya know? Trevial of course, but also times when one feels the most alive..whew', sorry..had to get that thought out i guess)I'd have liked to ride some with you guys, but as you can see i like to talk. After reminding myself of that, and the days are still being half short, and knowing i had to do zigzag then back a 3rd time around before i was to go over to the agri..i just took off.:) oh well. got home after dark tho. heres a pic when i got out and turned back at my bike, and happened to have my camera in one hand. great way to end the day.

Nice picK-man

I like the gourd birdhouses, too. I bet that is tough going up those switchbacks. Way to clean 'em!

dayam jealous of all of you. I was stuck inside all afternoon. Working the weekend has some serious drawbacks. It sounds like the new trail @ the Ag Center needs to be my next ride.

Yes it doesDuckman

as in being your next ride. The only thing wrong with it, is its only 4.5 miles long. Its a fun ride. Reminds me of a fast paced 125mx race..course sorta kinda, but in a diff way obviously. That means its REAL fun to me. But with Chicopee only 5 minutes away, that short length is fine. Seems much longer for that matter.

I guess my internal odometer could be off, but it seems your trip was longer than I would have expected. Did you take 120 across to 85?

You know, your right. I was using Waynes mileage from last weeks drive being his turn to drive for a group ride. He lives out in Dallas Ga by the dragstrip. My drive is around 53-55ish miles if i remember right. About 1 hour if 75/285/85/985 are ok. Thats the hard part...being that ok thing.
yea, 75 / 285 / 85 can be one big parking lot (nm)The Retro Grouch
