Me and some of the boys spent a few days up in Virginia dodging rain showers, rocks, and trees. It's a heck of a place to ride.

Below is a picture of our basecamp, located in the beautiful town of Monterey.

friday and saturday. We managed a ride saturday before we got dumped on but I left the camera back at the house because of the water.

but the unrelenting slope, coupled with some well place rock gardens chipped away at your will to go on.

All's well that ends.

Have to thank the boys at the Shenandoah Bicycle Company for the map and trail beta.

Thanks also to Chris Scott at Shenandoah Mtn Touring for trail info. Time and weather kept us from the real big ride we wanted to do.

that the climb gained about 2000' in that 3 miles.

I agree Oi, that's my idea of a mtb ride.

Thank you abox for cleaning up my pic. One day I'll steal Photoshop from someone and learn to do it myself.

I talked to someone about 20 miles north of Douthat on Friday morning and figured that day's ride wash a wash. The wife mentioned that she'd like to ride on Sunday, but "something around here", so I didn't bother to call the house on Saturday night. That looked like a killer climb, maybe I should be thankful I wasn't there. Thanks for the pics, we're headed to Douthat this coming Saturday.
