Apr 28, 2003 10:25 PM | | Well, rather than be productive today, like study for my managerial accounting exam I have in the morning, I chose to edit my pre-ride video of the Temecula course.

I chose this song because they were playing it over the loudspeaker at the race while I was waiting in the transition tent and for the entire lap I couldn't get it out of my head. So, I figured I'd immortalize it in this manner. AS those of you who rode the course will notice, the descents don't look nearly as steep as they did this weekend but we all know what they really were like right? The other thing to note is that this video makes the course look extremely fun but don't forget that there was 1900 feet of climbing per lap that we had to endure just to get to all this sweet downhill!

You caught all of the good parts and the steepness seems to show up pretty well. I think a lot of riders know that compared to video, the reality is that everything is a bit steeper and longer. Pete reminds us all the time.
Its cool how every has their favorite parts of the course. I had a blast through tunnel of love and that steep drop to finish it off, a few others on team 89 loved Dragons Back. And a few liked Photo Op.
Too bad about the climbs being left out of the video, but I can imagine they'd be sort of boring to watch. There is so little glamour in climbing, but thats where most of the pain is. |
