Did the 4.5 earthquake wake you up?Hollis

I'm in Middle Tennessee!

What a way to wake up at 4am...windows were shaking...the painting

on my wall was shaking...I heard a deep rumble for 15 seconds.

I didnt know what was going on, so I grabbed the clicker and heard this on the news.

"A light earthquake measuring 4.5 magnitude rattled parts of Georgia and Alabama

early Tuesday, with no reports of damage or injuries.

The epicenter of the tremor was approximately 37 miles southwest of Chattanooga,

Tennessee, along the Georgia-Alabama border, according to the United States Geological Survey

Web site. It struck just before 5 a.m. EDT.

The Georgia Emergency Management Agency said tremors were also being reported in the Carolinas."

My girlfriend shook me awake while it was going on. Just heard some rattling on the hardwoods. Pretty cool actually.

I've had enough though. I'm moving to Cali to get away from all these earthquakes.

I live here in Canton Georgia about 40 miles north of Atlanta and I have now slept through an Earthquake, 4 sonic booms, and 2 tornadoes without ever knowing it had happened!

Oh, and btw it was a 4.9 according to the USGS and was centered near Fort Payne Alabama, Check out http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&cid=514&e=12&u=/ap/20030429/ap_on_re_us/southern_earthquake for more info.

It woke me up...and nothing wakes me up. At first I thought one of my kids had jumped in the bed with my wife and me, but when my dresser started rattling, I knew that wasn't the case. Is someone in the house? On the deck? Wife having a seizure?...Earthquake?...nah, not in Georgia. My friendly local morning show host confimed the latter. I guess both coasts are doomed to fall into the ocean now.
No, but the storm did....GirchyGirchy

We had a hell of a thunderstorm here in Lexington this morning around 5:30...first the thunder woke me up, then some idiot's car alarm kept going off from the hits, which didn't help. Fun!
