It's not every day you get to ride an amazing trail like this with a world DH champion. Gotta love the FFTF!

The funniest was after the ride, the "gear guide" commentary he did on my Oakley glasses.

It was fun to meet and ride with you all: Ventanarama, Kristian, HFly, EricTheRed, Kitchenware, Lidarman, Migz, ZonicMan, JD, BBOC, Tom from Phoenix (handle?), etc., etc. Like a Grammy winner, I've forgotten the names of too many people.

It was cool to be on a ride with H-Ball, albeit wayyy behind him. Also cool was seeing Shonny Vanlandingham's broken and still loose clavicle. She's like, a total babe, and crazy fast. Hmmm, other MTB luminaries, Maurice (big dude) and Thanita (babe, fast) of Dirt Rag fame. Fun, fun, fun.

After riding in CO and UT, my local trails seem even flatter, shorter and less exciting than ever. You folks are SPOILED ROTTEN! Oh well, will be back to CO/UT next year and will be at the ND-NAG in September.

If any of you happen to come up Minneapolis-way give me a holler.

Later,

Sean
Bonked on Eisenhower?JS5280

Hey saw you guys on the side of the road up Eisenhower but no way I could get over and stop. Looked like you were overheated so figured you'd be okay once it cooled down. Had some car troubles myself. Had a bad tire and unfortunately all the tire shops are closed Sundays in Grand Junction. 250 miles on a a skinny temp tire. On the upside, the 50 mph max is a load of crap. Had to slow down to 50-60 for tighter curves, but hit 75-80 on the straights. Kind of slow for me though for that trip. Checked the tire periodically to make sure it wasn't falling apart or overheating. No problems. Great riding with you guys in Fruita/GJ. Should have photos up soon. . .

Was that just after you passed me too? I remember seeing you pull over after that but I figured you were pulling over for a picture. Why didn't you just squeeze the sweat out of your chamois for the rad? How long was your chamois time for that trip?
Did you win anything?brianc

just wondering if I'd have gotten lucky with the raffle had I stayed. Nice meeting you. I might be in CO again this summer.

No. Eric one some cranks. There was suppose to be one more raffle but the band chased me off. They kept playing and it really didn't look like they were going to have another raffle so I left.

I got a pair of KHS socks and a Surley sticker. w00t!

It's all good, we limped it over and made the best of it. Hard to have a bad time with such cool guys (ETB and kristian), even when mechanical things don't play along.
Sure didkristian

Just before the top of Eisenhower Jim noticed that horrible smell of antifreeze and noted that my engine temp was in the red. We pulled over, let it cool and then coasted our way back to Golden. From there we limped to Boulder. The problem was a bum water pump (apparently a standard feature on the V6 Contours) but Jim was able to put his mechanical expertise to work and he easily installed a new one for me.
