| Knoch Knolls?? | TracerJohn Apr 29, 2003 12:01 PM | | What happened to the Knoch Knolls Post?
It was there and suddenly gone.
Someone has been destroying the more technically challenging trail sections.
It is frustrating having to rebuild A frames over logs every ride.
Anyone with any info please email me.

You don't need berms to turn either just a little finnesse. I know who builds this crap and told them that if they keep it up it would cause problems. When they started nailing down roof shingles and building ladders the place started looking like a ghetto. Hey, why dont we drag some junk cars out there next.
The land is owned by the park district and used by a lot of different people. If they continue to build this crap it will eventually be off limits to bikes.
I don't agree with tearing the stuff down but I saw this coming this winter when I saw it. I can appreciate the skill it takes to ride this stuff but but don't appreciate the total disreguard for all of the other trail users. |

WE LIKE THE BERMS BECAUSE IT MAKES THE RUN FASTER. WHOM DO THE BERMS HURT? |
| re: Knoch Knolls?? | mzzm Apr 30, 2003 4:26 AM | | I also knew this was innevitable. I know that you had put alot of work over the winter into the variety of obstacles that were built. My biggest concern was that this would eventually lead to a closure on the existing trails out there. The risk factor was to high as so many kids ride out there. I saw some kids riding the logs that shouldn't have been as their skill wasn't there.
Hopefully you can find some other land nearby that is private to build up your obstacles. |

Who should decide what skill level is appropriate for kids to ride logs? Are you worried that someone might not have the capacity to handle riding a log? Or do you want to exclude others from enjoying a different form of recreation? If the equestrians were riding there - you would complain about that. If they lay an asphalt trail to allow rollerbladers access to the park - you would complain about that. Why make a fuss about riding dead trees on the side of the trail? gee wiz - get a life ! |
| re: Paved trails? at Knoch Knolls | Mohammed Saeed al-Sahhaf May 1, 2003 7:45 PM | | Funny you should mention asphalt trails at KK. There soon will be One! The extension of the Naperville bike path (currently from Gartner to Hobson Rd) is scheduled to go thru KK starting in at the sports complex side, going by the Site Formerly Known As Sallyworld, and eventually turning north & going across the west DuPage river.
First there wasn't enough trails at KK, then there is enough, and now there will be too many! Just think of all the kids that will now be cluttering up our singletracks!
Sigh!! I'm looking for a new place to ride
