Oahu trailsVerendo

I'm on my way to Hawaii soon. I've got the book and I've checked websites for trails on Oahu, now I need to know the must do trails. As much as I'd like to, I can't spend all my time there riding while my girlfriend is getting cooked on the beach. Any info would help. thanks.
Check out Pete's web site... and you might want to page airwreckmichigantammy

He knows everything overthere :). I'm hoping that he can show me around next time when I'm in Hawaii.

Here's Pete's site. I hope he doesn't mind.

BTW, here's my Hawaii ex-post from last Oct. You might find some useful info from some of other riders input.

you've got it covered. John Alfords book, correct? You've been to hawaiitrails.org?

Been awhile since I've biked over there, always liked the Aiea loop. Head over to Haleiwa, Barnfields Raging Isle, see what they gots to say. Hopefully someone from Oahu will wander into passion, otherwise, fat jeff over in the DH forum might be worth a shout. And check out dhhawaii.com.

That's all I can think of for now. When you coming? There is another famous (banned) passionian due in Oahu sometime soon also.

Definitely do MaunawiliObi-John

I didn't get to ride all of Maunawili when I visited last year, because it rained nearly every day... weird summer weather. I hiked most of it when I lived in Honolulu for 13 years, and it's just amazing. Don't miss it, and definitely bring a camera and lots of water!

For a downhill rush, go to St. Louis Heights (Waahila Ridge) on Saturday or Sunday morning and see if you can catch some shuttle rides back up the hill with the local downhillers.

Aiea Heights trail is pretty dangerous, hiked it last year and was glad I didn't attempt to ride it. Slick as snot, and major hurt if you fall over the edge.

You can ride all the way around the North end of the island on 4wd trail, just watch out for the washout half way around... looks like a piece of cake on the map, but it actually undulates a lot and is a fair grunt.
