A weekend in CO(23 posts)

A weekend in CODarren
Jul 1, 2003 2:19 AM
I went out early Saturday morning for a quick ride. I said good morning to the sun and we both began our climb.

There is a dirt road to single track that climbs up to another dirt road. Along this upper dirt road are two old railroad tunnels. This is one of them.

The trail surface is mostly this pea gravel. Many people do not like it but I love it. Being in CO I do not get to the ocean often but I get to hear the "surf" in each corner as both wheels slide.

A few fast miles down and a short but steep climb later you get a view of the city to the east.

Turning around you can look back at the trail and the continuation of the DH.

Sunday ScoutingDarren

On Sunday I went to do a little recon of a trail I would like to ride. It is up on a big mountain and is supposed to be excellent. To my suprise, one of the trail routes was closed (good recon info).

Further down the trail before the junction of the closed trail, one of many views ask me for a picture.

Go left to go downDarren

I continued on the trail and took a right instead of a left and ended up at the summit. The clouds looked like a blanket I could snowboard on. 3 guys were coming down from the summit on bikes with no helmets (not recommended). They were probably from Texas.

Wow, that IS cool!old Oi Punk

I would hate to see some ol' hippy do acid around that scenery! He would probably try to walk on the clouds!

Texas joke.......

That is a cool pic... could really be almost anywhere since you can't see what's below the clouds.

It looks like a beach with the most amazing waves lapping at it. To me. Damn - I meant to take the ANTacid.

I wish I had that as a "quick ride". Looks like some nice trails and scenery. I'll take that gravel any day over the fist sized rocks I'm riding on (I'm working on my post now). Where in CO is that?
Nice ride!Darren

...but that could be due to the wine...

I have NO idea where the second picture was taken. I think I recognize the rock in the distance but I simply can't place the shot. hmmm....

Great shots--especially the peak at sunset shot!
Very nice.Nat
